MONSTER Bass Pics

As most of you know, I spend a lot of time bass fishing. And I have seen my fair share of lunkers over the years. But days like we had last Saturday on Lake O.H. Ivie are incredibly rare. It started off as a great day of fishing, with everyone (6 of us in 3 boats) catching numerous bass, including quite a few in the 4 to 5 pound range like this one I caught.

But about 5 pm something very special happened. A friend of mine caught a 10.2!!!

Now its not everyday that someone catches a bass over 10 pounds, but what makes this so incredible, is that about an hour later, the guy that was fishing with me caught a 10.9!!!

It was his personal best, and a fish anyone should be proud of. And having two of your fishing buddies with you on the same trip catching double digit bass....priceless.

Awesome fish, great pics.

OK, since nobody asked--were they released? I'd be tempted to mount that thing, at least a replica.

Yep, both 10 pounders were treated and released.

I guess its kind of odd, but even with all the 8, 9 and 10 pound largemouths I've caught over the years, I've never kept a single fish for mounting. Heck, I don't even have a replica on the wall.

Ever so often the planets line up just right and things like that happen. Thanks for sharing.

I'm not much of a bass fisherman, but hooked a 5 pounder one day which was truly incredible. I never realized bass could jump so high out of the water. I can only imagine the excitment of hooking 10 pounders.
