huntcamp
In the deer season of '08. The deer were in rut and everything was looking good for the opening of WI gun season. Deer were moving in the a.m. However they just stopped. The next day there were at least four different wolf tracks in the snow. We ended up seeing 3 of them. They just killed the season. The so called experts say that they do not affect the deer herd all that much. However in a past year, one of my guys shot a doe bowhunting and before we found it. no more than 3 hours later, there was nothing left of it. I am always finding deer that are killed by wolves. They are getting so bad that they are starting to take livestock. It is time something is done!

huntcamp
The fish and wildlife took two out last year. We cannot shoot them for fear of death by DNR. It is rummored that there is a pack of twelve. 2nd biggest in state. I wish to discourage them , but catch 22 is I am trying to attract deer and that inturn attracts wolves. Local farmers who will remain nameless have taken some matters into there own hands. I am not willing to do that. We have great deer when wolves are not present. They are starting to lose fear. I have literally walked straight towards one, until coming about 20 yards before it ran.

I don't know much about the laws when it comes to wolves but is there some kind of nuisance permit you can obtain from the DNR?
Ravin R10 man
where are you located? dont matter..they are all over now even heading south..they are being spotted near the Ill. border. WIwhitetailhunter
We've got them where I hunt. Between Adams and Big Flats. For us, it's not so much the wolves are a problem as it is the 'yotes.
MichiganHunter
DONT YOU KNOW THE 3 S's OF WOLF CONTROL? 1. Shoot it 2. Shovel it 3. SHUT UP LOL, but here in the U.P. they are bad too, we have had them run all the deer from a 1000 acre lot of woods for a few days at a time. Shaun_300
We have tons of them here, they are hard on the deer for sure. But we can shoot them here! As long as it's not in a township that borders Algonquin Provincial Park it's all legal.
huntcamp
Wish we could, finally coming off the endangered list. Need to trim them down.
Guest Finn
Unfortunately, I have never seen a wolf, only tracks. Those buggers are tough to see, so SSS ain't working for me...but I can see the merits of that program. Sure would be nice for the DNR to admit predators are a bigger influence on the deer herd. Right now, it seems they feel it's only a minor factor, but hunters and landowners know better. Huntcamp, what part of Wis are you? I'm in Price County. mike13candace
We have Coyotes in the northeast... according to the experts they don't hurt our deer population either ... yeah right... Every coyote dropping has deer hair & bone... What do you think?...
gzilla45
We've had wolves on our land in Lincoln county for some time now but it seems like there are a lot more of them now. I find deer remains scattered all over the land when bird hunting. It sure will be nice when we can help reduce the population.

craig mack
I hunt just a few miles north of Wisconsin and have seen what wolves can do. I wish we could hunt them but it is illegal here and I dont want to get caught up in all that. You can always tell when wolves have moved into your area because when you do see a deer they are on pins and needles!!!! Deer are paranoid as it is but wolves can make them flat out crazy!!! Lucky for me I havent seen one in a couple years, I have been seeing more yotes though.
