we are having a serious problem here in NC with these stupid things. They have chewed the boot on the boat once already causing it to sink. anyhow, i can not seem to find any regulations on these things about killing or trapping. Just wondering if anybody knows the law on what i can do about them. I have been doing my own control of some sort but would like to not be breakin any laws in the process....

We have had a problem with them in our pond every year for the last 3 or 4 years. Just seen one out there a couple days ago. I usually just sneak within 30-40 yards and smoke em with the shotgun. They burrow around the edges of the pond and on a few occasions I have stepped in a spot and the ground sunk down, makes it rough when riding the mower, and tears up the yard. Orlan has the right idea SSS.

No, shoot, shovel, shut-up. ;)

oh, hahaha, if i could shoot I would, my folks house is inside a neighborhood that is lake front and shooting is really not an option. I am only going to be here for a week so I am tryin to get as many as I can. As of now, and I catching them in a live trap that is tied off to the dock. It is freaking amazing how many of these stupid things there is. Everyday you will see only one swimming around, but each night I have caught one and still every day there is one swimming around. do these things migrate to areas where one used to live? am I attracting more to the area by taking them out? does that make sense?

Dunno.

Done right, a feller can clean a whole gad of rats out in short order with not too many traps.

well i think i am doing the trap thing right since i got number 5 today within 3 days, its just not as fun and shooting and then with the traps I have to go down to the water and deal with them....
