Pistol caliber for wife

I got my wife a Sig Sauer P239 in 9mm and she doesn't really like it. So I shoot it. Take her with you for sure. As for effectiveness. I think 147 grain hollowpoints are the only way to go. I also train to shoot at half silhouettes so I'm getting some stuff that counts (lots of bone to produce secondary projectiles too). At the practical pistol shoots when I shoot the 9's I instinctively go higher after years of practice. We had a hostage situation and I double tapped all 4 in the head at 7 yards. Lots of others tried to hit centermass and hit the hostage. Practice, practice , practice. Get a pistol that they offer a 22 LR conversion for so you can find ammo to practice with for sure.

Noticed you chose a 9, what gun did you choose? Hope it works out well for her.

My wife shoots my ruger 9mm just fine, would probably be my first choice in caliber if I was buying a handgun specifically for her.

I like a wheel gun, they don't jam and if you get off the 1st shot accurately that is all you will need. I'd recommend .357 for her. Women ain't that dainty!

I shot that Sig and I didnt like it.. I got a Springfield Xd 9 and i love it, i carry it daily.. it fits me perfect.. I wouldnt be comfortable shooting anything bigger.. Its the best handgun i've owned yet! and i have a few.

I would say go with something like a 40 but a 9 can be effective. Just remember a 9 has some more shells to play with. The problem we ran into is a hopped of insurgent can take a few rounds from a 9 or a 5.56, shoot them with a 45 or an AK they go down on contact.
