tedicast
Driving down to the show on 81, south of 80, it is amazing how many trees are broken off at the top. It goes on for miles. You guys in PA must have had one heck of an ice/wind storm recently. There was a stretch, near Minersville I believe, that it looked like someone took a giant hedge trimmer to the tops of the trees. When did this happen?. It was almost spooky. My wife said it looked like something out of a Stephen King book.

I can't imagine how bad it must have been to damage that many trees!!!
Shaun_300
Re: Driving through PA wow! this happened to us in the dreaded "Ice Storm of 98" that was BAD one. all the trees along the highways were busted off. it sure took them a while to get all of it cleaned up. highway 417 going into Ottawa was REALLY bad. HuntingInMaine
Re: Driving through PA Maine got hit pretty hard by the ice storm in '98 and the woods are still littered with all the trees and branches that came down. It is going to be a very noisey hunting season for a while in PA! Luckily PA got their power back pretty quickly. We had areas in town that went almost 3 weeks with no power! VtBowhunter
Re: Driving through PA You folks will remember that ice storm for years to come. Everytime you look at a bunch of White Birches that are bent over so that the tops are touching the ground because of the ice weight, you'll remember. Those trees will never straighten out either. We still have them around from the ice storm of '98.
Alisha
Re: Driving through PA One of my aunts lives in the Pittsburgh area and bless her heart, I love her to death and love visiting her but I hate the drive up there after you cross the state line. I run 205/40/17 tires on my car and it's almost like an autocross.. trying to dodge the potholes and all. I'm lucky I've never bent a wheel up there.... buckbuster11
Re: Driving through PA This time of the year is terrible. The backroads are nothing but crumbled rocks but the highways are really bad. Nothing like going 55 and dropping bumper deep into a big sinkhole. Turkeygirl
Re: Driving through PA When I have driven into PA, I notice that there aren't any signs signifying a curve or bend, the two lane roads seem more like 1 lane roads, there aren't any signs for bumps, lol! This is on a "road" that goes through the middle of nowhere but woods and mountains that I have been on a few times.
wtnhunt
Re: Driving through PA Can remember looking into the bottom from the hill up here after the last bad ice storm we had. It was amazing to see all the trees that were snapped.
