They're gobblin' in the Black Hills!

Saturday morning I was standing on the deck of my homestay family drinking my coffee and heard some hens calling in the distance. I imitated them with my voice and about a mile to the east on the other side of a ridge 8 gobblers sounded off. I went back inside for a second and then came back out. I started calling again and immediately 7 gobblers thundered a hundred yards to the northwest! A couple were jakes but four of them were mature birds. Man, I'm getting excited! :D:D:D Only about 10 more days! :(:D

:D:D:D You guys are hilarious! Roflmbo! :D:p:D Hey, if any of you guys ever want to do a forum turkey hunt for Merriams, the Black Hills of WY/SD is the best place to do it and tags are guaranteed. ;) I'd gladly put one together with you guys, maybe even get HCO to film it too.

Definitely something to keep in mind. ;) Right now I'm trying to focus on this turkey season and this fall's hunts. I also need to get on the ball if I'm going to book this Sasketchewan black bear hunt. Would you be game, Will? I'm thinking we'll want at least three hunters and as many videographers.

Trophy northern pike fishing is included as well, so that will be fun! First of all, we need to see what funds are available to us. As far as elk goes, Colorado would be a good place to start for a rifle hunt. For archery I'd say Montana, Idaho or Wyoming. The thing is, we need to just start applying for premium units, that would be our best bet for some big bulls. Maybe we can even exchange hunts for publicity or maybe outfitters could sponsor us by giving us access to guided hunts. We'll see! ;)

How much are nonresident bear tags? Would this be an archery or gun hunt? Yeah, we do need to get on the ball here soon. I'd like to do a bow hunt if we could. Send me an e-mail or give me a call, Will! :)

Dakota :)

Its an archery Bear hunt and Shaun said if we just went as customers (paying the uide fees and such) that it was less and 1K american that includes guide fees, lodging, tags, and meals....he said only thing that wouldnt include was getting there and back....

Just because I'm watching out for you I must warn you to be careful with those Kentucky boys. They just don't know how to act when they leave their state. This is based on a scientific study done at the Universty of Georgia, in which I'm sure I can find and provide documentation. If not then just trust me.

Now us Georgia boys on the other hand really know how to make hunting fun and we're good luck charms. This is based on a national polling.

Okay maybe I'm full of it but I'll do what it takes to have more chances at Merriams

Okay, maybe you have me on a technicality. Just to show that there's no hard feelings, I'll come hunt with both of you.

See how understanding I am?:)

Actually I hear great things about Kentucky.:o

Beautiful state. I do love to huint the Merriams and I'm headed to Montana on the 17th. This will be my 7th year going there.

Headed to Texas tomorrow evening to hunt there.
