Bowtech_archer07
Breaking News from ESPN.... The Chicago Bears pulled the big upset Thursday afternoon by acquiring Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler, a source told ESPN.com. The Broncos confirmed the move. Cutler To acquire Cutler, the Bears had to give up quarterback Kyle Orton and first-round picks in 2009 and 2010, a source said. To complete the trade, the Broncos had to give back a third-round pick in 2009. The Bears beat out the Redskins, Buccaneers, Lions, Titans and other teams to get land the 25-year-old Pro Bowl quarterback. The Broncos had been asking for at least two first-round choices. NFL.com Video Highlights of some of Jay Cutler's best moments in 2008. Cutler asked to be traded when he found out first-year coach Josh McDaniels tried to acquire Matt Cassel in a trade with the Patriots. Cutler had not returned phone calls from the Broncos, according to the team, and had been staying away from the offseason program. John Clayton is a senior NFL writer for ESPN.com Look out... Chi-Town now has a legitimate quarterback. They can't blame their crappy seasons on that now....

twowetdogz
HaHa Bears. You got what you deserved. Can't wait to see Cutler fall flat on his face as people realize that he's not nearly as good as he things he is. I don't know how anybody can think he's as good as they say he is. He's got a 17-20 record. (And yeah, yeah....I know their defense sucked). But all you hear is that when their defense held opponents to 21 points or under, he was 13-1. Well............half the quarterbacks in the league could do that. So......go luck Chicago. You're gonna need it. Da Bears Still Suck! whitetailtrax
The poor bears - sure gave a lot away to get a little. Bottom line is Mike Shannahan was/is an offensive genious who could turn average offensive skill players into pro bowlers. My opinion, Cutler will do ok in Chicago, but will be far from the savior they think they just traded for. He's arrogant, childish, and not the brightest kid on the block. I'm anxious to see what Denver does with Orton and those picks - good opportunity to beef up the defense with a couple first round picks. Or perhaps they aren't done dealing this off season. SuperMn106
Chicago gave up way too much!!!! Couldn't have said it better myself. Glad the Lions did not get him, especially if that is what they would have had to give up to get him.
Bowtech_archer07
As I'm not a Bears fan, here is my unbiased opinion. When you rank 3rd in passing yards and touchdowns for a season, only to be behind Drew Brees and Kurt Warner, you are a good quarterback. He might not be the savior and answer to the Bears problems, but the reality is, if the Bears would have had a quarterback when they went to the Super Bowl last, they probably would have won. Yes, they need to add more pieces to the puzzle, but Cutler is a very good quarterback and he is one major piece of the puzzle for the Bears... JMO;)

For my team the Lions:o, they couldnt afford to lose those kind of draft picks for one guy because we have so many holes to fill. And I think that alot of teams are in the same position. FireStrut
I saw on NFL.com where Denver may trade a first round pick for Brady Quinn. I hope they don't, keep the picks and get more people on the defense side of the ball.
colts1888
I just wonder who he is going to throw the ball too. Other then the tight end, i'm not even sure who their receivers are. Since they gave up draft picks, getting one early via draft isn't going to happen. I believe that Matt Forte, the RB, led the bears in receptions last year. Cutler can throw it around, there is no doubt about it. There is also no doubt that Denver's receiving unit blows the Bears out of the water. Orton wasn't great, but considering what he had to work with, i felt he did a decent job and was getting better each season. I just wonder if he had some better receivers what may have happened. And, the Bears defense was not exactly solid last year either. 21st ranked overall. Will be interesting to see how it goes.
