hoythunter37
Ok I was just cleanin house when I saw my hunting Journal. My hunting journal is something that I love to do during the season. Every time I go out hunting that night I come home successful or not write everything I see. I got to reading it tonight and thought that it was pretty cool to be able to read what was goin on that night out in the woods and what the weather was like. I have been doin this for about 2 years now and I just love doing it. I have always liked writing, but to do it with something I like to do, then later being able to go back and read that stuff man that is awesome! Does anyone else do this?? Or am I just weird
Adjam5
No your not weird. I used to do it for like 5 years, then I just slacked off when I started hunting with the kids, and every trip out was one to remember:) I got more into the vidcam method of recording the days events. swohiodave
you are very wise to keep a journal. for a few years my uncle would write down which stand he hunted and the time each time he saw a deer and whether it was a buck or doe. after a few years you could see the same patterns repeating and times. NS whitetail
I also keep a journal
Dakota
You're not weird by any means, bud! Since I first started hunting I kept a hunting journal with pics and keep sakes such as my bloody first deer tag and such. I haven't been doing it lately, I really should get back into it. buckee
You'll have to start a Blog now though. Because the Hunting Journals are closing. I wonder if there is a way, the mods can put our journals, in our Blogs ?
layin on the smackdown
Absolutely...i have been doing it for 2 or 3 years now...I just keep it on my computer, you know, sometimes i get a little fired up or carried away and write a book about everything...Main things i keep track one are: date moon phase pressure wind temp time of movement (if any) where (to or from food sources) type of food sources weather The crappy thing is, like most people, i cant spend all day everyday in the woods, and some mornings i can only go for 1 1/2 to 2 hours....and that just creates a larger variable... But yes, I do!!!
NY_Bowhunter14
I personally don't have one, but my dad has been doing one since he started hunting in 1975...

wtnhunt
You'll have to start a Blog now though. Because the Hunting Journals are closing. I wonder if there is a way, the mods can put our journals, in our Blogs ? You can cut and paste them there if you wish Steve. They are all still there for now. I used to keep a journal in word and last fall was my first year keeping an online journal, I will be copying my entries from here to my word journal. But yes, I do!!! Thats a good idea man. Thanks for letting me know that. All I would do is just write about the temp, weather, and the type of movement. Good idea Dan. Well I am glad I am not the only one that does this. So far I am the only one around in my area that does it. Matt
Deb
I should start one, but if I did and found it while cleaning I would probably pause to read it and that would be it for my cleaning jag.

toddyboman
Yep I do the same thing..... Keep a lot of the same notes layin on the smackdown mentioned. I also put trail camera picture in mine....Like on 10-13-09 at 8:02 am 8 point with Kicker was at Food plot 1 or something along those lines. But I also keep notes in the off season......Like where I found sheds on what dates. Data for turkey hunting. So I try to keep one year around ...Main things i keep track one are: date moon phase pressure wind temp time of movement (if any) where (to or from food sources) type of food sources weather
ildrhntr
I have been keeping one now for about 8 years now. It is kind of neat to go back and read. I think it will be something my son will enjoy when he gets older.
