Hoosierbuck
That jerk just gave the rest of a black eye. I am sorry the guy was out of work, and that Obama wants our guns, but what in the world did he think killing those officers was going to serve? Clearly a mental disconnect there. Condolences to the families of the fallen officers. HB

m gardner
He's probably not the only one out there either, which is scary. Pretty senseless. God bless the officers and their families. Mark
buckee
Now why would any responsable citizen get into a gunfight with the police because they "feared the Obama administration was poised to ban guns" ?? That just makes no sense whatsoever A black eye for gun-owners for sure. My heart and prayers go out to the officer and his family. :(

Hoosierbuck
Truthfully, the title of this thread appears to be unfounded speculation. The shooter's friends said he disagreed with Obama about the gun bans, but nowhere did the article attribute his ambush of the officers to that issue. They also noted he was upset about losing his job, but could not ascribe any particular motive to the shootings. Neighbors said he was a disagreeable guy, that he had even gotten into physical fights with others in the neighborhood, which was quiet except for this jerk. Strut10
Doesn't matter what his circumstances are. There's no excuse for his actions. Best case I've seen in a while for a public execution once found guilty by a jury of his peers.
hungry hunter
Its going to get worst:mad:, two shootings in Florida a chase that started in Citrus county and Ended in Marion county. This nut case shot at a school bus as he was going by. Deputy's had to use deadly force to take him out. Mother shot her son at gun range then shot herself. All of yall say your prayers and be SAFE!!!!!!!!!!
craig mack
The nutcase used that as his excuse. Don't think there is any logic. Very sad for the law enforcement officers and their families. I agree. There are alot of unstable people out there and when times get tough for them, these type of things are a result. Unfortunatly there have been alot of stories like this lately. I feel very sorry for those who lost their lives and their families.
Strut10
I spoke with a friend who works at the funeral home where one of the officers is to be laid. The unreported details of this are just brutal. :(
wtnhunt
Here is a little newer article http://my.att.net/s/editorial.dll?fromspage=ch/c.htm&categoryid=&only=y&pnum=3&bfromind=7775&eeid=6490170&_sitecat=1522&dcatid=0&eetype=article&render=y&ac=12&ck=&ch=ne on this, the situation should have been avoided alltogether. That 22 year old punk should get the death penalty. He had a deliberate intent to kill those officers and Don is right, there is no excuse for his actions. Hoosierbuck
NOTHING I posted is meant to be an excuse, I was just noting the title of the thread attributed his ambush to Obama's grab for guns, but nothing in the article did so. The guy was clearly a homicidal nut case. I'll fly out there and prosecute him for free if they let me. Pro hac vice, PA? HB
nativetexan
Then what was the point of bringing up Obama's gun ban desires in the original story. Which has changed many times, across many sites and yet somewhere in each story keeps bringing up a fear of Obama's gun ban. May not have been the full reason, but I am sure it was a player. Now, back to the original subject at hand...

This nutcase or maybe those folks who knew him used losing his job and the potential for bans as his excuse to take innocent lives, I never saw any official statement that this guy made about there being any connection between his actions and the Obama positions on gun control. Guess somehow these warped people can somehow justify their actions by making excuses to themselves, dont know. There is no excusing his actions though, and it looks with the way the story I posted reads that he planned out his attack, he should by all means be eligible to get the death penalty. The media ran with what the people who knew this jerk told them. They could very easily have not made a big deal of that, but they did and for what? Sounds like the guy was a ticking time bomb, maybe the argument with his mother that led to the 911 call was what really set him off. Who knows, not fair though to assume that the reason this guy went off was over potential gun control legislation. btw, I am reading now that some 65 dems led by AR Mike Ross have opposed Eric Holder's idea of implementing or re-instating any type of ban on AR's or semi auto's, they are saying there are bigger issues that we face that need addressed and now is not the time for this fight. Kind of off topic, but an interesting read nonetheless even though it is from a biased writer http://my.att.net/s/editorial.dll?fromspage=ch/c.htm&categoryid=&only=y&pnum=2&bfromind=7775&eeid=6495902&_sitecat=1522&dcatid=0&eetype=article&render=y&ac=-2&ck=&ch=ne. If it weren't for these so called "larger issues" we'd be looking at all sorts of gun and ammunition restrictions coming out of Pelosi's Congress right now. But as much as the Democrat leadership would like to take away our 2nd Amendment rights, some Democrats realize they can't get reelected if the public thinks they're focusing on the wrong thing. As long as the economy is front and center, gun bans will remain on the back burner.
oldksnarc
I'm surprised with the increase of nut cases coming out of the woodwork and in the number of mass murders during the last few months that there hasn't been an emergency order from the feds for a weapons ban.
