maddhunter
Well I finally added a gobble call to my arsenal. Don't know how often I will use it but if I need it I will have one. Anyone use a gobble call????
James7xChamp3
Re: Gobble Calls???? I have used it to get a response from a gobbler to roost them in the evening when nothing else worked. I also used it once to get a tom to come within shooting range after trying every other tactic for 2 1/2 hrs. Í want to stress to not use it if you're unsure about other hunters being in the area. The one time I did use it hunting, I was on private property and I was positive there was no one else around. Some hunters will try to stalk a turkey and if he stalks "you " bad things could happen. buckbuster11
Re: Gobble Calls???? No gobble call here. If I need to use one, which has been pretty rare, I put the rubber band back on my box call, turn it upside down and shake away. To the human ear it doesnt sound quite as good as a gobble call but the turkeys sure dont notice. I've had a few gobblers red.....and I mean red hot mixing in that call with some hen sounds. With that said, I only use it in last ditch efforts when I've tried everything else and still cant get a bird to move.

hobie
Re: Gobble Calls???? It is a great call to have just be careful when using it on public land.I got a gobbler gobblin a few years back that would not answer to any calls but responded to the gobbler call and then killed him a half hour later
Rhino
Re: Gobble Calls???? Yep sure do but I only hunt on private land and I only use it after using hen talk 1st. I would never use one on public land or private land when I don't know who else is supposed to be out there. We divide our property into turkey zones during the spring turkey season and use radios too. Sure is nice to know where the other hunters are. Last year I never felt the need to go to my gobble call but I did the prior year. During the spring season of 2003 I killed my 2nd bird using a gobble call. 2 gobblers that were traveling together were answering my hen talk but wouldn't come into range. After they hung up at 60 to 70 yards and moved off I switched to a gobble call to actually locate them when I moved to my 3rd set up after they had gotten out of sight from my 2nd set up. They started coming closer answering my gobble call so I just gobbled them in for a 20 yard shot on the lead bird. A week later I was helping a friend of mine on a mid day hunt. We had a big gobbler hung up about 60 to 75 yards away in the open and he stayed there strutting for about 30 minutes. I switched over to a gobble call and I guess he felt like he had a competitor coming in. I was set up about 15 yards behind my buddy. He came in right to us and my buddy missed him. It sure was a great hunt but a sad ending for my buddy. I'll always start off using hen talk but I keep a gobble call with me all the time just in case I need to go to it. Strut10
Re: Gobble Calls???? [ QUOTE ] Anyone use a gobble call???? [/ QUOTE ] Nope. I have yet to find a practical use for a gobble call when hunting (other than trying to get shot).

13littleones
Re: Gobble Calls???? I use it to lacate birds all the time... Last year in MO., It was around 11 am.. nothing was talking... I just started cutting and yelping and using the gobble tube as loud as i could...5 min. later 2 long beards showed up...one paid the price....In Indiana I did the same thing as I was set up between 2 gobblers.. the first one showed up..busted me....the second one showed and paid the price..... so did I lol... when i picked him up...as I was putting him over my shoulder, he started flapping his wings and one of his spurs found the palm of my hand.. bled like a pig.. i should have put a couple of stitches in it... oh well ...
