Flintlock1776
I quit almost 25 years ago, cold turkey. Never went back. A carton of butts cost what one pack does today round these parts. So, I saved my lungs, saved a lot of money. My Dad did not quit in time. Lung Cancer got him too son in his life. Anyway you do it, to quit is the way to go. Good luck. mike
cody... you have to gear yourself up like it is going to be the fight of your life. Then attack quiting like you have never fought before, and in a couple weeks you will look back and say... it wasn't all that bad. I smoked 2 1/2 packs a day for over 10 yrs bud and i kicked it, and believe me it wasn't that bad. When you have your mind made up to quit it will be easy, you just have to make your mind up that you are done. Once your mind is made up its all down hill from there. If your uncertain at all about it or say to yourself i don't think i can, then don't even waste your time. Its all or nothing bud and thats the only way you will quit. I believe in you cody and if i can help in some way pm me and i will do what i can for ya:cool:
WIwhitetailhunter
Look through the Cabela's catalog and pick out a new toy. Then when you get the urge, put the money you'd spend on smokes or a tin and put it aside. In no time, you'll have the money for that new toy you picked out. Doesn't hurt to have a goal in mind to go along with quitting! I smoked 1-2 packs a day for quite a few years. Then I came down with a cold, took a drag off a cig and almost died from coughing. That was it for me! I do occasionally enjoy a cigarette now and then but a pack will last a long time now. It's not an easy thing to do. If you set your mind to it, just like anything, you can do it. Be strong!! Good luck!!!
Straight Shooter
You have to want too quit and be ready too do it! I smoked for 12 years and was ready to quit and have now been quit for coming up on 6 six years. These guys are giving good advice but it's totally up too you whether you do it or not. Don't do it because the price is to high now, because more than likely when or if the prices come back down you'll think it's okay to start again. arrow32
Okay well thanks. I'm really throwing this around on whether or not to quit I'd like to but I'm not sure if I really do want to. I dont know wish I never would have started.
JimT
I lost interest in smoking and just quit smoking cold turkey. That was eleven years ago. What the heck is rubbing? Does not sound good....lol......
HCO Team
Stubbornness and being scared is what made me quit. That was over 8 years ago. I started feeling better and not so scared 4 days after I quit. Wishing you success if you decide to quit!
slippery77
I quit( one month now and no desire to light up) using the nicotine patch to help with the withdrawl symptoms, but the hardest was the mental part. Not feeling like myself because I didn't smoke, reaching for that smoke after dinner, in the truck, etc. You have to want to do it, and there are programs out there that offer support and guidance as well. Good luck.

I dont know wish I never would have started. Then just put me in your will. That stuff will end your hunting fun for sure. Really, focus and git 'er done! I can say that because I have been there and beat them
RangerClay
Cody, have you ever seen a friend who was smoker die of lung and brain cancer? I just did, last week, and it's not a pretty sight. As I said before, it is much easier now when you are young and not completely hooked on these things. http://www.realtree.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84827
Illinois59
Chantix worked for me. You can get a prescription from your doctor. Good Luck.
coorsdrifter
I chewed Levi Garret for 18yrs and quit about 3yrs ago. When I quit I was up to **6** packs a day. The only advice I can give you on quiting is to just throw what ever you have left in the trash and just refuse to buy another pack. When you get the urge chew on a piece of gum or fruit,Not potato chips or other junk. You don't want to replace one bad habit with another.Quit now and hopefully you won't have the dental problems I am going through now. Also, put the money you would have spent on chew into a savings account and in a year or two you'll have enough for a hunting trip. OJR
Okay well thanks. I'm really throwing this around on whether or not to quit I'd like to but I'm not sure if I really do want to. I dont know wish I never would have started. First YOU have to WANT TO QUIT! I quit in '91 and since then, I have gone to a lot of funerals for friends of mine, who didn't want to QUIT!:( Take it from there! Good luck and QUIT! Flintlock1776
Think of it this way.......what is the benefit to USING ANY tobacco product vs. Not using it?
bruste
I quit smoking on Chantix though I have tried to do cold turkey on two occasions, but of no use. I have smoked for around 5 yrs with pack a day. Thanks to chantix and the support my family provided me. It really helped me to get over my nicotine addiction and I don’t feel craving anymore. There is one thing which I would like to share and which helped me a lot initially, try having a glass of water when you feel craving the most. It a tough road but it's worth so best luck to all those who want to give up smoking.
