Texan_Til_I_Die
I've seen one of these twice in west Texas, and now a friend caught this on a trail cam in deep south Texas. Any ideas?

Texan_Til_I_Die
Where's the massively long tail in the pic?
wtnhunt
Think Tom is right, Mike. Tail is probably behind the animal in the pic. Here is another link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coati, pic looks identical.

Tom2008
Looks like an ardvark...? Definatley not http://lh3.ggpht.com/_UnP4NXHgD-s/Ry-Y3KGvb9I/AAAAAAAAA68/4p_eTBNd43M/426754459.jpg It is possible that he/she could be missing the tail or it could be behind it. You never know. It is definately a Coati though. Did a research paper in school on them. Really interesting animals actually.

Don't see why it would need to be killed anyway.
redkneck
I dont know what that is, but he needs to stay away from my stand at about sunset. It would either be shot as a coyote/fox, or the biggest coon i ever saw.
layin on the smackdown
Wow!!! That thing is wild...i would have thought it was a cross between and ardvark and a coon...I never knew of that creature or that it was native to north America until 6 seconds ago...very neat critter...
