Shaun_300
This from a few years back, finally got it back from my taxidermist. Supposedly he's the best one in the area and is really backed up, but wow, the turn around time was a long time! Not sure if he forgot about it or what. That part sort of ticks me off, but I sure am happy with the job he did! Before anyone wonders why I mounted him right in front of a door, it's never opened. it's just a little closet that houses our waterpump for the house, and has been opened maybe twice since we've lived here. :D He's just a 6 pointer, but what a giant 6! I scored him at 111 6/8 gross and 109 7/8 net. :D The inside spread is 19 5/8", and the one base is 5", the other is shy of that by 1/8". Pretty good for a 6! Shaun_300
Thanks for the comments everyone! I'm very happy the way he turned out! And yes I agree, the turn around time was ridiculous, but for the quality of the mount I must say I'd go back to the guy. But I'd tell him that I want him within a year or I'll take him somewhere else. It was probably part my fault too for not keeping on him telling him that I wanted it. I'll never forget that hunt though, we were doing a drive and my dad's best friend was putting the watchers out, showed me the spot I was sitting in and said you can hunt here, or come up and see the next spot (maybe 60 yards away), so I went up and saw the next spot. Great spot, right between two ponds with a beaver dam separating them. But something told me to go back to the swampy hole he had showed me before. Went back down and sat there by the creekbed, 20 minutes later all I see is antlers flyin down the creekbed right towards me. He stopped 15 yards broadside and I let the .300 Win Mag bark, he jumped about 3 feet off the ground and headed straight for me. Finally at about 5 yards I shouted and he saw me, turned broadside again and BOOM! Another round into him and he dropped stone dead. What a hunt! :D:D Here he is when I shot him, I was 17 at the time.
