Ron41
I just received and Austin Halleck with no paperwork, no breach or nipple wrenches, and with a broken front sight. I have never fired a muzzle loader, but have always admired them. The original owner won it at a game dinner in the same condition about a month ago. I'm not even sure what size cap it takes. Any info on this gun would be greatly appreciated! my email is [email protected]
Hoosierbuck
Hi Ron41, welcome aboard. First thing to do when you get a muzzleloader is read bluelk's muzzleloader chapters, here: http://www.realtree.com/forums/showthread.php?t=903 . Then, you need to gather complete parts for your gun. With the front sight being broken decide this: Do you want to put a scope on it or shoot iron sights? If you want to go with iron sights, then I would consider taking it to a gunsmith and having him fix that front sight and locate you some parts, or find them at numrich or brownell's websites. Unfortuantely, those rifles are no longer made, but they have a good reputation for aestheitcs and performance. That should be enough to get you started. Again, welcome aboard. wtnhunt
Welcome to the forums Ron. Good advice above, be sure and read the link when you get time. Would also agree about taking the ml to a gunsmith.
