wtnhunt
Wish I could Tracy, but my luck I would wake up with a water moccasin in my lap. Try to stay as alert as possible.
Rhino
Never have napped while in the turkey woods but there have been a few afternoons during a long day when I could have. I've been told I snore so I don't think that would mix well with calling birds into range. I have taken a break to catch a nap at our camp between a morning and afternoon hunt though. Bowtech_archer07
I have done it both deer and turkey hunting. I don't try to, but sometimes it just happens, especially turkey hunting. I'll be there leaning against a big oak tree, with the sun beaming down and i'll be out! LOL, like I said, I try not to let it happen though. layin on the smackdown
Imagine if you fell asleep while turkey hunting....and then woke up to a super loud gobble a few feet away...i would probably crap myself... to answer the question, no i have not taken a nap while turkey hunting - i am usually so involved with whats going on around me that i can't just fall asleep...i probably could though, if it was a real slow morning and we werent running and gunning. I bet it would be pretty easy to slip away to lala land...
WHISKEYSWAMP
two years ago I fell asleep while calling in a bird. I heard the bird gobble several times then nothing for a long while... next thing you know I was waking up... I called again and heard nothing so decided to move to a field. While calling as I was moving, he gobbled again not far from where I wanted to set up... I ended up shooting that bird but also think he had to of walked right past me while I was snoozing. It was late season and I must of been worn out.

Tominator
Fresh air, warming temps, beautiful scenery, trees blossoming, birds singing. Yep, puts me right out sometimes.
Guest TennesseeTurkey
Never have turkey hunting but I have several times deer hunting....one opening morning I fell asleep in my box stand in MS and awoke to 7 deer in the field
Strut10
Do it quite often. I call it "sleep hunting". It actually has worked a few times for me. Call.......nod off. Call.......nod off. It's easier to sit still when you're sleeping. Only thing ya gotta remember is that when you're awakened by a close gobble....don't snap your head up. bluedog
Do it quite often. I call it "sleep hunting". It actually has worked a few times for me. Call.......nod off. Call.......nod off. It's easier to sit still when you're sleeping. Only thing ya gotta remember is that when you're awakened by a close gobble....don't snap your head up. I find it works well for me too. A couple times I have been working a reluctant gobbler. Quit calling, take a nap for 45 mins to an hour and the next call I make, they are close and come right in. Napping prevents me from calling too much and that is a good thing many times.
