Guest TennesseeTurkey
Well I learned what not to do on a henned up bird this morning.....I went to my hooting spot and heard several way off in the distance then finally this boy started talking MUCH closer.....well while closing the distance I busted a hen off the roost thankfully into a different direction from the gobbler.....well we got set up on this ol boy and I mean he was lighting it up....I called softly to him and he gobbled, again in a few mins and hes closer, repeat and hes closer then finally he's jsut barely out of view and he's gobbling so hard the woods feel like they are shaking....then it happens.....hens come in from the right....one calls and I lay into her cutting....she dosent respond....but the gobbler triple gobbles at my cutting....well the hens pay me no attention go to the gobbler and then eventually took him away from me....I know the exzact spot to get in if he's in the same spot ....gonna roost one for tomorrow morning....hopefully the rain will hold off....
