David_218
I don't own a .444 Marlin but if I were to buy one I'd get the one with a longer barrel and a little more weight. I think Marlin has one in .444; I do know they have their .450 Marlin in a longer barreled lever action.
dartonman
Re: 444 MARLIN Are you buying this gun used, from a friend, will he let you shoot it, and what are your intentions for the gun....I say this for one reason, I shot one, and the action, though used, was smooth, however the barrel is ported for a reason, its a recoil bandit...she bites a bit, and Im 6'2 and 280 pounds, and I really would of wanted a more balanced gun...if you want a gun to have, cause the price is right, and it looks cool, ask yourself what you will use this one for...the ammo isnt cheap either........just my thoughts, keep us posted.........al
Guest Colorado Bob
Re: 444 MARLIN I've got a Marlin in 444. It's not ported. Recoil & muzzle blast are nothing out of the norm. I put it in the same class as my 30/06 for recoil. I was shooting 300 grain bullet @ 2000 fps-----factory loads from Gerogia Arms. It'a a big-bore. They are a blast to shoot !! Welcome to the club. Try www.marlinowners.com Go to the big bore section on the forums. Lot's of 444 fans there------but most (all) aree marlin lovers !!
JimT
Re: 444 MARLIN I have shot a couyple Marlin .444 rifles. I like the Marlins better than the Winchesters. But that all a personal thing. My 1895m .450 Marlin would rock you pretty good. The ported barrel was extremely loud. I highely reccomend you wear ear protection, even while hunting. It was that bad. What are you going to be hunting with it? I bought mine for close range bear. It worked. Never carried it as a deer gun.
