Turkeygirl
Got up at 6am and walked up back, not a bad morning, little cooler than yesterday but not much but didn't hear a peep...at least from a gobbler....I walked down an old trail through the woods to get to another field, found this in some mud...do you think gobbler or fatty hen? Some smaller tracks by it... Now I think that the track from above wasn't made by these...not totally sure... If I could just hear a gobble or even see one bird, I'd feel alot better.....there's a cold front coming in tonight so maybe that's why nothing...or he's crazily henned up...I dunno. Going to sit on the state land tonight if the weather holds out.
Strut10
Got up at 6am Ummmmmmm.................... ........................ I think you need to get up earlier. I heard probably 12-15 birds this morning around the Strut10 Ranch. First gobble of the morning was around 5:35 A.M. What time did you actually get to a listening spot?? Could be the birds were already down and chillin' with hens.
Turkeygirl
I kinda wondered...it was probably quarter after or almost 6:30 by the time I got up to the edge of the woods...nasty weather next few days so that's going to cut down on the early mornings.... gregbrownlee
Looks like at least a jake, maybe a tom. Kind of hard to tell as I do not own that particular crow call. Get out there earlier, I usually like to get to my spot at or before 5:30. That way I have complete darkness to sneak in on and they do not see me walking in. (The birds could have watched you on the roost, if thats the case they wont make a peep). Have you tried to go out at sunset and roost a bird? Rhino
That's a gobbler track Ruth. The track above it and to the left is a hen track. From what Strut said it sounds like you got there well after flydown time. This close to your season they're probably getting with hens right after or when they hit the ground. If they are they're going to be more interested in dancing for the hens than gobbling.
