MNhunterr
Hey guys, I have a simple opinion based question about a bow. What are your thoughts on the Fred Bear Instinct?? I know it's generally a good brand of bow. This will be my first year bow hunting as well. I was thinking of a Mission X3, but I found a Bear Instinct at my local pawn shop full loaded and the exact size for me. The bow comes with stabalizer, full quiver of arrows, sights, release and all. The guy is selling the bow for 325, and I'm sure we could talk him down some. So whats your guys opinion.... Fully loaded used Bear Instinct for around 300 or a new Mission X3 for 379.00 and another 200+ in accessories.
woolybear
Beware the pawn shop unless you really know what youre looking at. Chances are they bought that bow from seller for about $90 and will sell it for e-bay average. Bow alone brand new only ran 400.
Mach1
I've had one for a couple years. I've had no problems with it and it shoots good.
Randy
The biggest problem IMO with the Bear, is the seller. You say you are new to this so I would personally buy a bow from a Proshop. They will help you set it up properly and and make sure it fits you the way it needs too. The extra money you pay upfront goes to custumer service, which for a beginner archer, will be worth evry penny.
Tom2008
I've replaced the Y cable on every Bear Instict that has come into the shop and they've only had the bow for maybe a year or less. They are a good bow, but it seems that the cable that they use is not strog enough for their cam. It shoots really nice though and affordable for anyone. redkneck
I've shot one a few times, ended up buying the SQ32. I think they're great shooting bows for a really good price. Randy makes a good point. I personally like used bows since I get a lot more bow/accessory that fits my budget better than laying out $800 for a new one with the same basic stuff on it. But if your new I agree with buying one from a proshop (doesnt have to be a new one) unless you got a buddy that can help you with setup, tuning, etc. You'll find a lot better service from the shop that you buy the thing from since they sold it to you. This is of course if your talking about a regular old pawn shop, but down here we have some pawn shops that have nice proshops inside too. Dakota
I'd recommend the X3 before the Bear. I almost bought the X3 but got a really good deal on an Outback from Kyle (Kat) and just couldn't pass it up. Dakota
Arkansas Boy
Instinct was my top choice about 2 years ago. It was the I wanted and could afford. The X3 is nice, but is very plain looking and just wasn't for me. It has no bells or whistles, but I am sure it performs just like a Mathews. That price seems a bit high for that bow from a pawn shop IMO. You can find them cheaper. Look around some.
