Turkeygirl
Started out with 1 full box of Remington Nitros and about 8 shells of Remington Premier Mag....the Premiers patterned better than the Nitros, which surprised me....but I had one Federal left which at 15 yards demolished the target....I know they pattern better anyway so hopefully come Tuesday Gander Mountain has some....No photos of the patterns but in the end I have like 5 shells left....my shot was drifting a little left so I had to tweak the Red Dot...then it was hitting a little low so I tweaked it and it seems to be ok....I was waiting inbetween the breezes to shoot...maybe it still played a role....I'll pick up some more ammo and take a shot or two just to double check but the gun is clean and ready...now if I felt ready, lol:rolleyes:
PotashRLS
Your findings don't surprise me. I only use Federal and Winchester. The Remingtons just never seemed to pattern for me. The only Remington ammo I shoot is their game loads or .22 LR.
Turkeygirl
Yeah...I was a little surprised I had to tweak the Red Dot since last spring....could have been the Remington loads as well. The one Federal I had left was perfect at 15 yards....the other loads when I shot out 25 and 30 yards was where I saw a little adjusting was needed but afterwards they seemed to be relatively center...Gander has the Federals online so I hope they have the in the store still..I'll pick up a couple boxes... Strut10
The Remingtons just never seemed to pattern for me. You're not alone. I use Remington's steel shot. But, IMHO, their turkey loads are for shooting at crows or cans in the yard.
Turkeygirl
Glad it wasn't just me then, lol. I thought maybe my Red Dot was too tight or the barrel tightened too tight to throw my pattern off just the little bit it was...but that Remington shot....ugh...not wasting my money on that stuff again.... 3seasons
I've shot just about every shell out there. In my gun the Fed Flight control #5 patterns the best for me. Winchester HV#5 is a close second. The only Rem shell to pattern well for me is the old Rem Hevi-shot it shoots great just not much shot. My #1 shell is the NITRO(its not even in the same category) yea a little pricey but what is a bird worth to you and the pattern is unreal. I do use the Federal in some situation. It shoots the same as the nitro so I don't have to move my sight. Just my $.02 The main thing is; you HAVE to be comfortable with what you shoot.
