The_Kat
Lastnight I was coming home from holdenville, when I ran into one heck of a lightning storm. I mean there was cloud to ground lightning like crazy, and it was wicked close! I wasn't too worried about it, as I've chased storms since i was about 17, in fact I was dissappointed I didn't have my video camera. I know more had that thought go through my head when everything in my vision went solid white! By the time I could see again, I seen sparks flying off of my truck in several directions. My guages were all pegged out, my rpm guage was even off scale reading into my mph guage. I didn't hear anything but a cracking when it happend. No boom, no nothing. I didn't feel a shock, a current, nothing. It was surreal. Anyone else ever had lightning smoke their vehicle?

Shaun_300
Wowzers! That sucks Kyle, glad you're ok man. Did it fry any of the modules in the truck? Sounds like the IPC is fried if all the gauges went crazy like that.
Tominator
Closest I've been was about 100 yards. Lightning hit a crane that was doing some work on a bridge near our football field when I was in high school. We were indoors, but my one coach was outside. The bolt knocked him on his butt, and by the time we came out to check on him, the other coaches were lifting him off the ground and laughing their tails off because Shecker's butt was covered in mud. Glad you made out OK DB 6/

buckee
That sounds pretty scary, Thank God for rubber tires, or you'd be toast...literally. I watched a big old Oaktree get hit when I was young. It got sliced down one side, like there was nothin to it.
Arkansas Boy
had it hit a tree about 10 feet out my window. I love to go sit on the deck and watch it from under the awning, but the one that hit the tree outside of my window scared me pretty good. redkneck
I love to watch storms, just as long as i can keep some distance. Once while hunting, i could feel the hair stand up on my head during a storm, and had like a battery-zinc taste in my mouth. Needless to say, I was a bit too close to the action.
