Tominator
4 peels, or 3? A banana has 3 sections to it, and yet, the peel has 4 sections. Why is that?

Why is that? i have no idea, but I did learn from a monkey once that if you peel them from the botton instead of the top you will not have those annoying stringy things left on it. wtnhunt
Oh brother. Bored????? lol.:D Dont know bud. Bananas the actual fruit are really kind of round, not triangular. Guess if you wanted to you could probably peel one in more than 4 sections.

If you take the actual fruit part and smash it ever so gently, you will see that it breaks into 3 little wedges.

redkneck
smash and gently dont really seem to fit together in the same sentence:D:D:D Good point. I didnt realize the peel had four sections, I just pull down on the stem and let it break ever how many times it takes to get to the nanner inside. This thread reminds me of the old "how many licks to the center of the tootsie roll pop" commercial.

wtnhunt
It's quite obvious you've never analyzed a banana my friend. . Nope, you are correct in this assumption, I have never taken the time to analyze a banana Chris. If you take the actual fruit part and smash it ever so gently, you will see that it breaks into 3 little wedges. Have honestly never attempted to "ever so gently" smash a banana bud. Guess now I will have to try this.
Dawg
Hmmm......that's a good question. One that makes you wonder. I googled the banana but couldn't find any conclusive evidence as to why the banana only has three "sections" while the peel has four. However, I did find some interesting facts. Did you know there are over four hundred varieties of bananas with the yellow Cavendish being the most favored in America? WOW, who woulda thunk!?!? See, now you have something to look forward to. I can see it now: William on his cell: "honey, can you pick up some bananas on the way home?" Catrina: "sure honey..........any special reason?" William: "yeah, Tominator's being a dork again, and I need to analyze a banana." Catrina: "Sounds like Tominator. Only Chris could take something as innocuous as a banana and analyze its simplicity."
