Turkeygirl
We had a not so nice day yesterday, this morning is sunny but going to rain this afternoon then they are calling for rain mostly Wednesday but then Thursday is suppose to be nice...would it be worth my while to get up early Thursday and go listen for turkeys? Will they be more prone to talk on a nice morning after a rainy day before? Suppose to be in the 70s this weekend!! Nice for the youth I guess but I'll be out looking and listening still, will have a week from Friday until season starts...need to pinpoint something:(
western NY bowhunter
It'd definately be worth your while to get up and check things out. They were gobbling off the hook this morning! Turkeys really aren't hampered too much by the rain, as long as its not a total washout. The only conditions that I won't go out to scout in is when its really windy. Other than that, there's only 9 more days to decide where that magical first hunt of the year is gonna take place.... PS...Make sure you take a crow call with you when you go to get those birds fired up on the roost.
jbeck
Go for it Ruth, although you know your going to pile one up the first morning regardless.
dbHunterNY
I've been told turkeys will be out in open areas/fields when it's raining. So, if this is true and you can stay dry then I'd watch from a truck if possible wednesday when it's raining. I say this, because when it's raining many people aren't doing much anyway. - Dan
