how long has it been inflamed?

What caused it, if anything, or did it just start acting up?

On a scale of 1 -10, 1 not hurting, 10 being very painful, how bad does it hurt?

Does it hurt when you are not using it? or only when you use it?

these are the questions i would ask myself before making any decision on going under the knife...feel free to answer them and i will give you my opinion...but like stated above, you might not want to get advice from most of us, as i am not in the field of medicine...;)

UMMMMMM Yeah I am a electrician so unless your wiring is messed up I will bow out of the what to do answer. But I agree get a second opinion if you are in doubt. Trust me nobody likes to think about surgeries but I have had my share, and always fared better just like the doc's said.

i had a bike crash broke some bone off of it, they went in there and got it out and they had to cut some muscle out of the way, they put back and thats what caused it

Does it hurt when you are not using it? or only when you use it?i cant ride in the car long becuz of the Ligaments get tight when i sit down.

Ya bud, i would take this pretty seriously. if the doc says the S word, i would probably have to agree. This very well could be something that may really bother you when you get older...or may weaken your ligament. Trust me, you do not want a weak ligament, cause you havent felt pain til that sucker tears! So in my opinion, if you enjoy being active, i would have the doc do what they need to do, suck it up for now, because it will be worth it in the future.;)

hope this helps and good luck with whatever you decide...

Dan

well i think im going 2 have it, he said i dont have 2 do it right away, so what i think im going 2 do is wait till mowing season is done, cuz the ones im mowing for paid me till the end of mowing season, that ends oct. ill go hunting at the end of nov. i will have my knee out when im siting up in the stand. so i think ill just wait till the end of mowing season. thank you all! keep on post on this tho.

You really don't want to wait that long Jeremy...by then you could have it so messed up it will be more than a minor surgery, and deer hunting will be out of the question for a good year. This is something you really don't want to mess around with...That thing is like a rubber band, and if you tear it mowing or whatever, it takes a long long time to heal. Get it fixed now, lease out your duties to a friend for a month, and get back to work...you'll be in good shape for hunting season.

no he said if i had the surgery i cant mow :( so im going to have 2 wait till right after mowing season, ill HAVE to, some peeps have paid me till June so i cant quit :(:o

return their money;) and get it done now. Otherwise you step in that one hole or slip on the wet grass one morning and you will not have to worry about cutting or hunting for over a year. It could also get so bad that they take it off about the knee:D

First, get another opinion from a different surgeon.

If your knee hurt all the time after this one did the surgery, something is WRONG!

I have had several surgeries on my legs and knees, including a total knee replacement and let me clue you, there are a bunch of "surgeons" out there that aren't worth 2 cents!

Have a different surgeon look at it. Something isn't right!

I had a sports medicine guy operate on mine in 1982 and it was two years before I could walk downhill again. But on the up side, because I was tenacious and kept up the therapy for years it gradually improved and I now still regularly run even though arthritis is becoming a problem (not just in the knee). I would try to get a sports surgeon, they are in the business of getting you going quickly, but they won't baby you for sure. From what I remember it hurt and he didn't care just kept pressing me to get it better and keep it strong.

From what I can get from all this confusion...

Gest a 2nd or even 3rd opinion....if your knee has been messed up since the original surgery....either you pushed yourself and didn't let the knee heal up or the surgeon did a cruddy job. Prioritize and decide what is important to you....if you wait, you don't know if you might twist your knee or what not and make it even worse which means longer recovery. And I doubt the Dr. would pay to redo your surgery....I dunno much about that stuff...how long has it been since your surgery? I will say if you try tp push yourself pre or post surgery, you could be in for a world of trouble in the long run....just some food for thought.
