wtnhunt
Anyone else seen these yet http://www.remington.com/products/ammunition/centerfire/30_remington_ar.asp? Interesting idea, but kind of wonder how this will take off, if at all. Looks to me from their table like the velocities are considerably slower than a standard .308, and falls a bit short on energy too.
Strut10
Just add it to the list of answers to questions nobody ever asked. The R-15 already comes in .308................oodles of options for ammo..........power for whatever..........proven accuracy. .30 Rem??? What would be the point?? Remington does chamber the 30 caliber(.308) in their R-25. Think their point was to offer a lighter platform, the R-15, for a .30 caliber rifle. No doubt the R-15 will be a lighter than other competing .308s, ballistically though I don't see their numbers working out quite the way they are trying to market this. TC did something similar with their icon too did they not, the TC30? Wonder how big sales have been for these, and would also have to wonder about ammo availability and price. Adjam5
I read the article in Shooting Times mag about this gun. It was given a good write up. A MSRP of $1225 is not bad. The wonder of it all is the almost, .308 performance in the standard sized 5.56 receiver. The bolt is the same size as the 5.56 but the head is .308 sized. The 125gr bullets follow the .308 flight path within 3.5" at 500 yards with a 200 yard zero.
