sureshot
do they work???????? the past year or so there has bee n a few kids ages 16-20 who have been causing a ruckus in our small town, they are threatning people following around in there car, chasing people, everythign you can imagine, the kids are terrafied, my daughters boyfrind can not park his car at home becouse he was told by they they will thrash it and it is not the first time, they alwasy get away with it everytime, they play the "race game" and saying people are prejudice, last night some of theyre"gang "chased my cousins daughter, we just about caught them and thank god we did not, today they were charged with uddering death threats and a couple other charges to 13 year old kids! they broke into my daughters friends house and thrashed it, no proof though! every thing that comes into my mind ends with me being the guilty one which is crap so I want to do this the right way and legal one for now! I was thinking about getting a town meeting and trying to get a bunch of parents who will walk around on weekend nights trying to keep these punks from doing anything else,[wishing they would under my watch!!] I heard they did it in cities, never imagined it would come to this in my small town, just makes me so mad that the kids cannot even walk down town anymore, when I was growing up there was never a worry, I never remember being scared, the way it should be in your town!all I can say is good thing I calmed down and had some seriose thinking time from last night, those punks should buy a lottrey ticket, they are so lucky I got my sences back!Just wondering if anyone has any solutions or if the watches work, Just want a safe town for my kids!!! Thanks1!!!!
Doe-ee
We have what I think most small towns have around here. It's called C.O.P.S. (citizens on patrol) Ordinary citizens drive around town with police funded radios and report anything suspicious. If there's a problem in a certain neighbourhood they hang out there. Steve was a member here for a while but couldn't find enough time for it. It's like having a bunch of undercover cops. Since they're in private cars...the crooks don't see em coming. Works great. I hope you find a solution to the problems you have there. Sounds scary.
92xj
I would try and drive by them when they are on foot or bicycle's. I know they are older and can drive but they cant hang out all the time with there vehicles handy. Once you find them hanging out on the street drive by real slow and say something that will get them fired up. Once they are fired up speed up a little and let them think they can catch you on foot. Once they are running behind the truck you are driving with the tailgate open, let them get really really close and Lock it up. Now once you have come to a stop and they have just slammed into the back of your truck, hopefully breaking their legs while landing in the bed, speed off and head to the local police station and tell them how they ended up in the bed of the truck with broken legs. But on a serious note. We have a lot of neighborhood watch areas, and that is just what they are, a "watch" area. People watch out of the windows with nothing being solved. I dont really know what you could do if the cops have already been told and the complaints keep coming in with no response from the PD. wtnhunt
Good luck with the town meeting Bret. Sounds like a kind of screwed up situation. Are your law enforcement folks aware of the problem kids(punks) and the death threats, if not I would surely make them aware. They may make a presence in the area which may help. jbeck
Our neighbor hood watch consist of Norman Driving up and down the road. at a whopping 30 MPH. LOL It's nice living in the sticks.:D:D
stevebeilgard
stay where you are, bret. there's no safe place to move. you're on the right track with a neighborhood watch. call that town meeting together, and make sure the paper/radio is there. use cameras to show what they are doing/have done and give the pics to the police and news media. show the faces of the kids causing problems, and the whole town will be on the lookout. forget the race thing.that's just an intimidation technique. just keep records of what you see, and who you saw do it. have folks write down license plate numbers of vehicles that "don't belong" . and get the town kids to participate. kids should not grow up scared and intimidated. m gardner
Welcome to the new world order. Neighborhood watches work if the criminals are somewhat professional. They don't like people watching them and will move on. Spending time in prison isn't high on their list of things to do. It sounds like you are dealing with terrorism which is impossible with our laws and attitudes today to deal with effectively. Good luck. Law abiding people can't win this one. I just noticed you are in Canada where you can't carry handguns. Here in Arizona we can defend ourselves against deadly force and it stops lots of what you describe. If three or more confront me and issue death threats (especially at my advanced age) I am allowed to legally kill them. Send them down. Tell all your friends to spend more time on the front porch cleaning your guns...kinda like what you do when your daughter goes on her first date... But seriously, what about the parents of these punks??? Someone has to know who they are...I'd be having some conversations with them to start with. NS whitetail
when I was growing up there was never a worry it is hard to believe how much things can change in a generation who is to blame............ I would say that a big part of it is the parents who are "raising" these kids. Apparently someone has been doing a miserable job at it. JimT
It is just us and my Beretta here. Sounds like you have a real problem for sure. I have never been part of a neighborhood watch so i have no knowledge of it...
BuckNrut
In our town we have a curfew - no kids outside their home past 10:00 pm; 11:00 on weekends. The other night, some kid got busted for riding his skateboard in the mall parking lot across from my house at 10:30 - the police confiscated the skateboard on the spot! We may not be in the sticks, but I just love that small town policy.
sureshot
I asked the police to stop by work today to talk about it, no luck they never came,at 4 the middle of the kids 18 or 19 came to the store, I asked the boss if I could educate him and he said sure outside, I went out the front door and came around and waited when he came out we had a chit chat, I explained to him in not so nice words or voice that he has opened up a bag of worms he does not want to, and that my daughters boyfriends car will be parked at home tonight and if anythign happens to it or bugging my daughter or friens he will meet his worst nightmare, he also said everyone in town picks on them and will not fight, I offered the 3 of them to come on my properyt tonight I will oblige them, 1 against 3, i think its fair!he was talking and interupting me giving my lesson for the day to him, I told him that he will shut up now or the nightmare might come sooner than later, never once I threatened him, I told him about his worst nightmare coming lol!! I am still shaking, it was so hard not to "teach him" a better lesson! I am just really upset the police did not come by, we are starting to wonder if they are maybe narks, no idea why they are not away!!he tried to shake hands and I said if everythign is cool in a year I will but right now you hand may be broke if I shake it! I am not saying talking to him is right but when it comes to my familly and safe town I will do what ever it takes, just hope they do not coem by tonight and try anythign with my vehicles or his becouse they will see there worst nightmare and it even scares me to think of it!!! The_Kat
Man I love living in Oklahoma.....we have the make my day law and it extends to your personal property such as vehicles, even if you are not on your property. We can legally kill someone harssing us or our property if we feel threatened. You called the cops, they do nothing, it's time to take things into your own hands. Nobody would mess with my family....if I go to jail, so be it. Good luck buddy, you got a bad situation on your hands.
