Weathermen/ women

I'm not trying to make anyone mad, but boy I wish that I could be a weatherman. It is the only job that I know of that you can be wrong on a daily basis and still keep your job. I'm not talking about a few degrees in the air temp, but something like they predict that their is an 80% chance of rain and sure enough there is no rain. The have changed the forcast for this weekend that I think that they don't know what they are doing somedays. One hour they don't have any rain and the next they do. It's just frustrating on planning because I don't feel that they are very reliable as much as they used to be for some reason. That's just my opinoin. Sorry for stepping on anyones toes, and thanks for letting me vent:D

Yeah really, know exactly what you mean. With no chance of rain in the forecast we had drizzles here the other day.:o

Funny thing is even after the weather has happened they still can get it wrong.:confused::confused:

The weather channel online is about the worst, perfect example yesterday: High forecasted for 82, the actual high was 88, even after we hit our high they still left their forecast high at 82, noticed that even on the interactvie weather channel satellite forecast.

heck, they are trying to predict the future, what do yall really expect? Them to be exact all the time? I think the fact that they are pretty dang close to what the next day will bring 80% of the time is doing pretty darn good for telling me the future.

heck I can even be close in predicting the weather of the next day by looking at the radar and temps from the previous day. Now when they predict more than just 24 hours in advance, thats a whole new ball game.

Playing the devils advocate again......:D

forecast   /ˈfɔrˌkæst, -ˌkɑst, ˈfoʊr-/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [fawr-kast, -kahst, fohr-] Show IPA verb, -cast or -cast⋅ed, -cast⋅ing, noun

–verb (used with object)

1. to predict (a future condition or occurrence); calculate in advance: to forecast a heavy snowfall; to forecast lower interest rates.

2. to serve as a prediction of; foreshadow.

3. to contrive or plan beforehand; prearrange.

–verb (used without object)

4. to conjecture beforehand; make a prediction.

5. to plan or arrange beforehand.

–noun

6. a prediction, esp. as to the weather.

7. a conjecture as to something in the future.

8. the act, practice, or faculty of forecasting.

9. Archaic. foresight in planning.

Doesn't say anything about certainty. No one can tell what the weather will do. Heck, here in SE Texas it goes from one extreme to the other in a matter of hours sometimes.

Wow and to say that someone is a waste of airspace........hmmm, a little over the edge don't ya think? :D:rolleyes:

Weather predictions are based on jet stream trends and air masses moving in from the north and pacific. Where and when rain will occur depends on the dryline and the jet stream. I assure you it isn't as easy as it looks. Most of it is based off of history. I don't bother listening to weathermen on forecasts, but they sure are handy when severe weather strikes and you and your family are wanting to know if you should take shelter or not.....everyone forgets those times :D
