buckbuster11
Well how'd we do? We were surrounded by birds at first light but they didn't cooperate. Moved to another property and tried calling a nice one and his buddies out of a field they were chasing hens in. Managed to call in 3 jakes, I was going to pepper one since I have 2 tags but I couldn't get a clear shot through trees even though the closest was 15 yards. They put on a heck of a show though. Strut10
Got right in above a hard-gobbling tom at first light. Ends up there were 2 toms and about 10 hens. Everybody flew down and the hens headed off through the woods to the lady's house who has sunflower feeders. Try calling a gobbler off of 10 hens and bait. It got too windy to be very productive around 10:00.
Hoyt03
bumped birds, heard lots of birds, had birds close but they wouldn't come close enough, heard some shots too. Got windy around 10 too, but I stayed until 12 and never heard another. Not a bad 1st day if my hearing was better and could pinpoint the birds gobbling on the roost probably would have been a quick morning.
