NY_Bowhunter14
Kyle Busch got what was coming to him. There's no point in blocking that aggresively with that many laps to go.The kids a knucklehead. If i remember correctly, when Kyle wrecked, it was of not fault of his own, Burton bump drafted him going into the corner, causing him to spin, every driver out there blocks, especially getting down near the end, it's all apart of racing... As for the safety aspect, i believe they should install two catch fences, one slightly higher then the other, keep one where it is, then install another, taller, catch fence another 5 feet behind the first, it would be near impossible for a car to go through 2 catch fences regardless of the speed... camoman1
Seeing 1/2 the field get taken out on lap 6 is a joke. You can't tell me you can really enjoy the race when you can hardly see the backstretch. And I for one hate plate racing. It completely takes the drivers abilities out of the picture. I completely agree that the plates pretty much take the "skill" of a driver out of the equation. But the only way the plates are gonna go away is if they do take the banking out of the track like you said. I aint tryin to stir the pot here...I guess I would just rather watch a plate race than no race at a track.
RTF
God, I miss the good ole days of Nascar. Comments and the bickering over stupid stuff like the ones made in this post and the radical changes made to nascar in the last decade has made me walk away from Nascar all together. AdvantageTimberLou
Boy brad sure sticks to his guns. He faced some tough post race questions and he didn't budge a bit. I like this guy. He is a good kid Kat from a racing family. Brad tells it like it is and is a racer. If all goes well, you will see him in the #5 of Hendrick Racing next year. His dad use to race a lot at Toledo Speedway and won a bunch of races there, he has to be floating on air now that his boy won at the biggest track of them all!! AdvantageTimberLou
One of the spectators had to be airlifted out from what I heard. The traffic after the race is unreal so to beat it they used the helicopter. One person suffered a broken jar. Rumor was a piece of brake rotor hit them! Restrictor plate racing is intense, your going 190 on an engine with 400 horsepower that without the plate would be 800+. Without the plate speeds would exceed 220 MPH if not more and a little touch will send that car into barrel rolls if not into the air. The biggest fear is if a car was to barrel roll or get sideways such as Carl did, get touched by another car and toss over the fence. It could happen. NY_Bowhunter14
After looking at the video again, I think NASCAR caught a break, if you look closely just before Edwards hits the catch fence, the rear end of his car hits the wall, if the car hadn't hit the wall first, it would have hit the catch fence with a lot more force, and also could have possibly hit higher up, where the fence is weaker...
