all of a sudden i have the urge for a levergun, a couple buddies have them and there a blast to shoot, 1 has a marlin1894 cowboy and the other a puma92, i like both guns but am leaning towards the puma92 i just like the feel of it, there seems to be no difference in accuracy between there 2 guns, anyone have any experience with the pumas?

BTW if anyone has either the marlin 1894 cowboy or the puma92 in a 44mag they wanna get rid of i,d like to trade a remington mod 7 predator in 243 its full mossyoak brush camo with fluted barrel and has a burris 4.5x14 bal plex scope on it and has had 3 boxes fired through it, theres not a scuff mark on the whole rig shoot me a pm or my cell is 620-388 5386 would also sell outright for $700 i,m located in pratt ks

I just brought home my 1894 cowboy 44 mag! The store I bought it from had that and a handful of puma's. I personally thought the Puma felt really cheap and that the craftsmanship was definitely far below the Marlin, hence the cheaper price tag. I handled both guns half a dozen times. The guys behind the counter laughed the last couple times I came in because they new I was torn and wanted the cowboy....but it was $750 with tax. The Puma was $400 I think? I also didn't like the way the entire receiver comes back when you ratchet the lever so the whole top of the action is exposed when the shell pops out. The lever on the Puma was also way rougher. Plus, I really wanted American made. The Marlin is a high quality, living-breathing piece of history. The Puma is a rip-off import of the same (actually of the Win 94 type).

Sorry...I've said too much, LOL!!!:D

The standard 1894 Marlin can be had for around $500 brand new. So for almost the same money, you should go with the Marlin.

i sold the reme outright yesterday morning to a local guy for my asking price ( that never happens lol ), went to the gun shop last nite and handeld both the puma and marlin, i liked the feel of the puma but the quality of the marlin won hands down, i now own a nice brand new marlin 1894ss 44mag with straight stock, they made me a decent deal to i got the marlin and 4 boxes of ammo 2 are hornady leverevolutions and 2 are winchester partition golds, all for what i got out of the reme i,m going shooting as soon as the rain stops, its been raining since last friday here,, w t h is up with that,, i live in kansas not oregon, kansas doesnt normaly have a rainy season,,lol

yep its ss, guy at the shop said there sorta hard to come by, i wasnt really looking for ss but thats the only 44mag he had in the marlin, couldnt stand it,,, rain or not,,, i had to run out and shoot a few rounds, set out 3 bl bottles at 30yds disposed of all 3 with 3 shots i,m happy looks like i got a shooter, now when it quits raining i,ll have to pattern it,

BTW do you no of any bullet drop tables for 44mag with 20in barrel? all i,ve found have been in handgun length.
