jesse8953
My next door neighbor sold this gun and case to me for $80. Can anyone tell me what it is worth? j.c.higgens-model 583.16 sears roebuck and co. 12 gauge mod. 2 3/4 shell. He needs the money that is why I got it, to help him out. colorado bob
You got a pretty good deal IMO. $80 for a shotgun, is great. Full choke? If so it will be a great turkey gun. Pretty sure Western Field made them for Sears. CB
jesse8953
I thought the same thing when I saw it but it has a modified choke.
colorado bob
Try it with a 2 3/4" turkey load. You got nothing to lose. Sometimes those old guns shoot a pretty tite pattern.
stcif
They aren't worth too much. I have my father's old JC Higgins 12 gauge pump. I wouldn't sell it for anything. They aren't worth much but are well made and shoot just fine. I'll bet that old bolt action is a good shooter.
hungry hunter
If you paid $80.00 you helped out a person. Those JC Higgins are good. If you break the stock its expensive to replace. I have my grandfathers JCH 20 ga full choke, he probabley killed 20 turkeys with it and untold amounts of dove and quail. I still use it for dove on those special occausions like dove season. My grandmother said that grandpa bought it at western auto.
