Hoosierbuck
A thought just occurred to me in the shower. I struggle with self-discipline. I have to make myself exercise, avoid junk food, read devotionals, make time for prayer, etc. I look at my long range goals that are the expected fruits of these endeavors and sometimes it seems like I'll never be able to stay diligent long enough to get to those goals. There are too many days ahead, the road is too long to sustain this fragile balance. It's discouraging. Then, a still small voice tells me that I don't have to worry about all those days. I don't have to be diligent for all the years ahead. I just have to be diligent for today. This minute. Not only that, but a quick prayer and God will carry me through this minute, this day. I don't really have to do anything. Just keep the goal in mind, and let God carry me there. He wants to carry me, all I have to do is let Him. That's not so tough, I can do that!
