i got my license almost 10 years ago. I was lucky and had a brand new 2002 f-150 to drive. Only had 220 miles on it when i got it. Had lots of good times in that truck and ended up trading it in on a 2004 dodge 1500 quad cab. I remember muddin hauling home my first bow kill bull elk, drivin girls around (since i had the only new truck in the highschool), prom, early mornin duck hunts, changin the oil in the front yard, and many many other things. I still miss that old truck but i love my newer one!

Got my license the day I turned 16. Since I was 14 dad told me either I could have whatever I wanted if I paid for 60% of it or I could drive whatever he bought for me for free. So, I started saving every little bit of money I could. The two years of saving, I saved up just under 3000 bucks and 3 weeks before I got my license I bought a 1992 jeep cherokee. Since i had the thing three weeks before I could even drive I started taking it apart and had a lift on it and cut the fenders big time to clear the tires I wanted. Dad thought I was insane but since I paid for 75% of it, he let me do whatever I wanted too. Looking back on it now, I wish I would have not spent the money to do the first lift and tires and the little random stuff becuase once I became more knowledgeable in the field of building rock crawlers, I took all the stuff off, cut the thing in half, cut the top off and stated building it the way I really wanted it. It was a great learning experience. As of 2 months ago I still had the thing, but took it all apart and sold it. I regret that everyday but, but I will build something new very soon, and I cant wait. The jeep was the go slow and crawl stuff, this next build will be something to go fast and jump with, think trophy truck style.

Congrats on getting the license!!!

When I got mine the only car I had access to was my moms truck. An '89 Chevy extended cab long box. We called it the bus. I eventually inherited a 93 (pretty sure that was the year) 4 door chevy blazer they had bought for my sister, she bought something new and I got that. Then in my junior year in high school they bought me a 96 grand am, and I drove that for a loooong time. We just traded it in for a new impala. Pretty Ironic this topic came up because since the car didn't run, or move, they had to come pick it up and they actually just put it on the flatbed and hauled it off about an hour ago.

Congrats Chris! I got my license the day I turned 16 and got a '94 S-10 that day. Had that truck for 3.5 yrs then got my current truck, a '99 F-150 4WD. The first thing I really remember driving is we had an ice storm 2 days before Thanksgiving and I turned onto my road and went to pull into my driveway, well that didn't happen. I slid on down the block, went around the block and had to try it again! Congrats again and be safe bud!

I think i got my license at 15. Got an '82 Datsun 4x4 that used about a quart of oil to the tank of gas, but saved the town money on fogging mosquitoes - a real chick magnet, but i rolled it in the school parking lot doing donuts. Then got a 79 chevy stepside, rolled it. Then got an 86 olds and hit a sign with it (BIG sign). I wasnt a good kid, but grew up eventually.:D

I got mine shortly after I turned 16, drove mom's 94 Toyota Corolla for a bit. Hated it because it was an automatic. When cruising for chicks I took dad's 03 Chrysler 300M Special. :p:D Bought a 2003 2-door Cavalier 5-speed when I was 18, man that car felt like a Corvette compared to that ole corolla!:cool::D

I rememeber that day well. Pulled into school after my test like I owned the world...lol. This was in 1987. My first car was a truck. 1981 Chevy full size with a 250 straight six. Soon after I yanked out the six and put in a 327 small block. Painted it how I wanted it also. Candy red with silver. Truck went very well when I was done with it. Went thru alot of tires with that that truck and somehow I managed to never once get a speeding ticket. Getting your license changes your life. You can get from a-b whenever you want. Just respect it.

wow. what sweet memories. i got my license the day i turned 16. my favorite brother let me use his '58 chev convertible with a 348 to go on a date. i was pretty hot stuff back in '63. in sept. of '66, i bought (special order from july) a brand new olds 442, midnight blue with white leather interior. i paid 300 bucks extra for leather. that car got waxed every satruday. that was my car of a lifetime. i joined the service in april of '66, as was assigned to las vegas. in november of '66 i called my folks and told them i was going to pick up my car at christmas time, and drive home. "didn't we tell you, your brother sold it". what a shock. they never asked, they just sold my baby. what a crock. anyway, a sad ending to a great car.

The first car I bought was a '68 Dodge Valiant, slant 6 like OJR's. We drove that tank up dry creek beds, over fields, through swamps and anywhere else we weren't supposed to but it kept going. I finally sold it to a kid as his first car. He fixed up all the body damage and kept bringing it back to show us how great it was. Bet he's still driving her. :)

Haha! My cousin had a '72 charger, 318 2-barrel! Man that thing was UGLY, but we'd jump terraces in the pasture or ride on top going down the road, and it would blow most cars off the road. Those were the good ole days.
