Turkeygirl
Basically 36 hours till the turkey opener.... I haven't been out for 3 days...nursing is blowing my brains out.... I'm trying to decide if tonight I should go up behind the house since I know there's a gobble somewhere, just haven't heard him or seen him minus poop and tracks, or go over to the state land...I am going out in the morning, I'm thinking state land, see where those birds are. Then maybe back Thrusday night and hopefully roost one for the morning What do you think, up behind the house tonight or state land tonight? Good luck NYers! GWSmith
This close to the opener I'd be hesitant to go out in the mornings anymore...roosting only from now on IMHO. By the sounds of things you need to just get out there and sit down with a bottled water and some tylenol:D

Turkeygirl
So maybe I'll go roost em' on the state land tonight and tomorrow morning go up behind theh ouse as I can sit on top of the old gravel pit without worry of spooking something compared to the state land....I dunno..won't go out until 7ish at least

mailmanmark
tight lipped Turkeygirl, I've noticed that the turkeys around here have been pretty silent until the hens start leaving them around 10 or 11 . I would go to wherever you feel that location has the best strut zones and listen for them at dusk. There is alot hens again this year, alot of competition. Keep calling at a minimum in the early hours. Progress later in the morning.....and yet those darn birds still like to come in silent...go figure.........most of all.........good luck and have fun....... Turkeygirl
I know..it'll keep others in....but considering the one bird is hanging on this one ridge..I'll stick it out there till noon if I have to!
