WIwhitetailhunter
Anyone have metal roofing on their house/garage/shed, etc.? My garage roof is in need of repair and I was thinking of going this route. We put one on a shed at the hunting land. Sure didn't take long to put on. Just curious if anyone has installed this type of roofing? What are the pros and cons? Thanks for any input.

Randy
Jeff, Steel is the way to go if you are planning on staying at your present house for many years. It will cost a bit more than shingles but if you get a good quality steel it will outlast you and I. The only real con is, the darker colors will show a little fading over the years. On the other hand, I can shingle your garage for less than half of your years wages.
stevebeilgard
i've used it, and it's great. easy to put on, and lasts forever. go for it
wtnhunt
Put a metal roof on the shed when I built it, no problems out of it. Had a metal roof put on the house a few years back, was pretty expensive compared to shingles, but losing shingles to wind got old. When we build a new house it will have a metal roof. jbeck
http://www.fabral.com/residential.php Metal is a good choice, I'm not sure it will cost more than a 30 archet. shingle. Plus there is a product called nail fast that can be layed down on your shingle then the steel fastened to the top of it. this causes a moisture barrier that will not allow condensation to work down the screws into the roof deck. I know when screwing into plywood you use a larger screw that you will going into framing material. Oh yeah I forgot the question was Metal or not, I say go with it. WIwhitetailhunter
On the other hand, I can shingle your garage for less than half of your years wages. I'll keep that in mind, buddy! Would there be some type of discount for putting you (or not putting you) in certain jobs at work? Shaun_300
Metal roofs are the way to go, especially for a shed. We built a new hunt camp last year and that's the route we went. It was expensive, but it'll last forever and is pretty low maintenance. It was a sinch to install too.

Dimensional roofing
Hi A Roof is necessary for every house. Some Roofs are better for the winter season and some are good for Summer but some are best for all weather but we just need to take care of them. We have to inspect them time to time. Like metal roof works for a long time around 30 years. I contacted Austin Roofers for my kitchen rood leakage they said there is a little hole in the roof and then I replace that particular roof with a new one so in future I never face a problem. Before buying any roof for your house just ask Roofing Companies in Austin they suggest for the best according to me.

wtnhunt
Spammer bringin life back to this place, maybe let em slide? lol. Put a metal roof on our log home when we had it built. Unfortunately don't think our contractor knew what the heck he was doing. Having issues with venting in the winter with moisture building inside attic space on the roofing screws and causing dripping into the house. Need to find a reputable roofer to fix it, more $ out of our pockets to fix our contractors screw ups.
