muggs
:rolleyes:Who didn't see this coming?:o Remember folks, good 'ole Muggs Muggsbow was WAY out ahead of this curve (much like the Gren Oden curve I'm ahead of). This whole article is basically one big paraphrase of what I've said while the egomaniac was still donning the Packer green and gold. If it was 1986, I'd post a link to Cindy Lauper's "True Colors" lyrics... And if I can cyber-scream at the top of my lungs....MR. Chrud
I hope Favre does sign with Minnesota. That would all but lock-up the division for Green Bay this year. It would be an interesting game at Lambeau. There would be cheers and boos. Not sure which there would be more of, but I can guarantee that stadium would be as loud as ever when he would be introduced. I don't miss him one bit. We have a 1st year starter that threw for over 4000 yards, had 32 combined TD's, is mobile and averaged less than 1 INT per game. I think we'll do fine with the QB we've got. We don't need a 40 year old hack.
Guest Finn
Always hoped Brett was smarter than this, but obviously no. He's just tarnishing his one time stellar legacy. Hate to see it happen, but he can't control himself.
camoman1
Well, to me it doesnt really matter who he plays for next or if he doesnt ever throw a football on the pro field again. It was great to watch him in the green and gold back in his prime, that will never change in my mind. No matter what he does, you cant argue that he was one of the best QB's. If this was any other player, it would be no big deal. Players go and play for their former teams rivals all the time. Darren Sharper, Ryan Longwell both went to the vikes, no big uproar there. And Longwell was (and may still be) the Packers leading scorer. Its obvious the guy loves to play football, whats so wrong with that?? Id say compared to alot of other players shooting up nightclubs, or themselves in nightclubs, or beating their wives, or selling drugs, Favre going and playing for a rival aint all that bad. And if doing it because of a grudge against GB..so what. It seems he was run out of town, so maybe he has a good reason to hold a grudge. We (GB) have a new quarterback that has some great potential, so what ever Brett does should be of no concern (other than ON the field) to GB or its fans. And as far as him and his agent playing ' contract games', find one well known player who doesnt.

You expect the entire organization to allow him to waffle on his retirement, shed all those crocodile tears, handcuff them with their free agent and draft choices because they're not sure what he's going to do, just because the guy has a huge ego? He was really hampering the entire organization...they NEEDED to cut ties. McCarthy deserves kudos for how he handled that...actually, Rodgers deserves the most credit. Now the jerk is considering a return to the biggest rival of the fans who've loved him for so many years- just so he can stick it to them...wow. I get the guy has the "everyman" appeal with his Wrangler jeans and the scruffy beard- but he's on the exact same level as T.O. He goes about it a lot different, in that "ah shux" manner, but he's more like T.O. than he is different. He also cost Mangini the Jets job by imploding and throwing 12 INTs for every TD over the last 8 weeks of the season... I'm happy he did, Mangini was against bringing Favre in from the start, now I think the Browns just lucked out by landing the circa 1982 Microsoft stock version of an NFL coach. Im not defending the guy...Im just saying " who cares". So what if he has a big ego, lots of pro players do. Like I said, if it was just about anybody but Brett, none of this would be of any discussion. And yeah he should have stayed retired based on his perfomance last year. I personally think the Packers offering to pay him 20mil. NOT to play is a pretty good slap in the face. Sure, it may have been time for the Packers to put Rodgers in as a starter, but remember #4 took them to the NFC champ game the year before. I know if it were me, I may be a bit offended that if I was a big impact on the teams success 3 months ago and now you want me gone. Im not the 'one in every crowd' who thinks that Favre can do no wrong....I agree that he has a big ego, and may be doing all this just ' stick it to' GB. And thats ok....hes not hurting my feelings:cool: And while he was a Packer, I wasnt a Favre fan cuz he was a ' nice guy' I was a fan cuz he threw TD's and won football games!! And all these 'fans that loved him all those years', if you are so emotionally attached to a football player, that it bothers you when he plays for another team.....you belong in the looney bin as far as Im concerned.:D Those people are 'Favre fans' not Packer fans. I understand that pro athletes are supposed to be ' role models' and all this and that...but again, compared to some other athletes he looks like Mother Theresa:cool:
buckbuster11
Wow, I didn't realize he was seriously thinking of coming back. I haven't been keeping up with my NFL news. PotashRLS
Brett screwed up his legacy, point blank. However the Packers front office didn't exactly put up a stellar performance in handling their end of it either. But................lets keep
SuperMn106
The way I look at it. Brett can do whatever he wants and not tarnish his legacy. You can not take anything that he has accomplished away. If the guy wants to play let him. Putting Brett Favre on the level of T.O. is stupidity. You never see Favre in the news like him, or holding press conferences about his teammates. I don't see how you can actually say Brett got Mangini fired with a straight face. You have no facts in your points about those two topics. Stop being jealous of the guy. I do not see anyone attacking Arnold Palmer or Jack Nicklaus for the amount of time that they played tournament golf and were non competitive. The difference is Brett is still competitive and can still play like he showed last year untill he got hurt.

SuperMn106
UMMM....who? I am tired of everyone bashing Brett for nothing. The guy loves to play football. After the season is done he is tired and thinks he is done but the love of the game comes back after a little while. I do not think Joe Montana going to the Chiefs at the end of his career tarnished his legacy. So why is everyone jumping of Brett? I do not get it. This is like one of us who goes and and plays a round of golf. After a bad round we say we will never play again but then come back and play again next weekend. c_lou
His main goal is to stick the screws to ya, bud...just sayin'. I read where Brett said that he wanted to screw the Packers....oh wait, what was that, it wasn't Brett who said that. Well we all know it couldn't have been the sensationalized media. They would never put a story out there just to get people talking. And just for the record muggs, I never said I was a Brett Favre fan, I am a Packer fan. I didn't start rooting for the Jets last year, and I won't root for the Vikings this year. If he wants to play, I say let him play. His legacy as a Packer speaks for itself. Is Jerry Rice still the best WR to ever play? He couldn't retire either. There are tons of players that go to other teams to continue thier careers. Would it be nice it Brett would have not "retired again", sure, but we can't all be perfect like a certain Brownie loving sports nut. I was however a Barry Sanders fan and a Dan Marino fan. Once they retired I quite following the Lions and Dolphins. What was that??? I think Oden just committed another foul. Sure glad Durant stunk it up this year. And that's all I have to say about that.
