I would love to get at one of those cowboy revolvers:D Actually that's not bad since I found out recently that Onondaga County is charging close to $400. If you ever get the single action itch just let me know and I will point you in the right direction.

I had to pay $50 for a background check with the local police, then $70 for the lifetime permit. I thought that was expensive...

WNY_Whitetailer
Glad to see that another person in is a proud holder of a pistol permit in NYS...How long did it take? I've been hearing estimates of 6 months to a year at least and some longer...I live in Niagara County and it is always faster than Erie County...The longer time frames have been for Erie County... I'm glad that I obtained my permit back in '04...Took 4 months back then...

stcif
Just curious if they restricted it in any way. In Oneida County the judge feels the need to stamp hunting and target on most permits. Very few are granted a permit with no restrictions.

Very few are granted a permit with no restrictions. Not sure about other states, but in indiana you can apply for either a personal protection permit, or a hunting and target permit. The personal protection allows you to carry anywhere. The hunting and target only allows you to possess a handgun while going or coming from hunting or a target range.
