dsharp01
Don't know what is going on but the birds were hot and gobbling on the roost a week ago, but know their beaks are glued shut. Been out every nite listening for a gobble. Nothing. Talked to some other hunters who are having the sae problem. I really don't know what to do but I'm starting to get discouraged already. woolybear
If it's roost trees you're looking for on a silent gobbler, shut up. If you wanna hit him early in the morning talk to his lady friends. If you want them to fly to you in the morning you best do your best horny hen immitation night before. If the hens are heading to nest, hit the areas that tommy makes himself most visable. dbHunterNY
I've only been out last Friday evening and Saturday morning. The only time I heard a gobble was after I convinced one to come in.
maytom
The first few days of the NY season I experienced the same thing. Heard a few sound off early while still in the roost, but as soon as they hit the ground, they all went silent, and the woods ended up being as quiet as a Church. That spells only one thing......."Hens"!!! Personally, I real feel that this spring season will be much better the second half of the month!! Some years all the action comes early, some mid-month, and other's near the end!! Stick with it, and things will happen!!
