pointing_dogs_rule
Not too sure of your set-up, however, you might want to try something like a "B-Mobile" jake in with 4-5 hen decoys. I have still seen some very aggressive gobbblers that might want to fight. Second, depending on your state laws, here in Iowa a lot of birds are being taken in the afternoon and early evening. If you can hunt past noon try that. Hens usually seperate off from toms and go to nest and that leaves the toms alone and looking. If you know where they roost then set up so that you catch them coming back to roost. NOTE: if you hunt afternoon do not call too much, about once every 1/2 hour will be enough. good luck the dog
Buckhunter76
thanks for the tips, here in ohio, we can't hunt after noon, and for the butterball comment, lmao, good one bro
jbeck
I like to try and bust them up the night before, just figure out where they are roosting, wait for them to fly up and run and yell like crazy. Then the next morning you have a gobbler with no hens.

turkeydude
Call to the hens If the birds are henned up real bad, call to the hens. If the hens are being vocal copy every sound they make and this sometimes will make the hens mad and come in dragging the gobbler with them. Or just set up where the birds wanna be. But the best suggestion is hunt the midmorning hard. The hens will be starting to leave the toms to go to the nest and leave lonely gobblers hanging around. Good Luck
Buckhunter76
good idea jbeck, and yea, it does work for some hens, but if ya hunt around here even the hens are call shy, too many hunters that miss, and educate all the darn birds, i dont know how they miss witha shotgun, lol, i think they get turkey fever, or something, lol, i seen something last week that cracked me up, it was an older gentalmen too, i was like wtf , anyways he had done shot twice and about a half hour later he came out of the woods with no bird, then to beat all things he was walking around the island of woods and was trying to stock the birds, lmao, it was pretty crazy, you think you see eveything then every year you get surprized on things
