Turkeygirl
The wind gusts are really nasty right now, cold front moved in...not going out to roost but I'm going to go out in the AM anyway....wind is suppose to lessen up a little bit at least. What I'm wondering is will turkeys roost differently in high winds? The few nights the gobbler was roosted on a ridge, last night he was down lower near a swamp near the one fields....So I dunno whether I should go on the ridge or just go set-up in the field and wait... Wind is still forecasted to be 15-25mph...a little breezy but nothing like the 40 mph gusts we are currently getting:eek: Maybe some rain tonight or early AM......maybe,lol. So what's your thoughts/experience?

mike13candace
They are like any other creature when it comes to wind.. They will roost with on the opposite side of a ridge for a natural wind block. Also very cautious walking on the ground. Last Saturday the gusts were nasty.. I could see them heading for cover on the ground...
turkeydude
Turkeys tend to favor open areas in the wind because they feel unsafe in the woods because their sense of hearing and sight is hampered so they go in the open. Good Luck
