RangerClay
At the crack of dawn I rolled out of bed and got cleaned up. I go into Abi's room, "Ready to go hunting Babygirl?" and she springs out of bed. Next I go to the Nathans room, "Come on buddy, it's time to go turkey hunting". His response, "But Daaaaaaaaaaaady, I'm soooo comfortable". I laughed and let him go back to sleep. I mumbled under my breath, "You are so much like your Mom." It's Mothers Day weekend and I'm home on my range. The turkeys aren't too plentiful around here but anytime I can spend time outdoors with my kids it is time well spent. My goal this morning was some quality time with the kids but it turned out to be just one. One is better than none. Here is some pictures from our outing this morning. Hope you enjoy them. Here is the dynamic duo heading out the door. We had a 150 yard hike up the trail to my Ameristep Doghouse. We got the decoys set up in the food plot and we settled in. I nocked and arrow and said a little prayer for an old friend. I bought this call for Abi a couple years ago and boy is she getting good with it. I hate to plug a product but the "Fold Back" function of this Tru Fire Hurricane is perfect if you want to keep your release out of the way when turkey calling. I cannot use a mouth call so I'm using a glass friction call. It's nice to tuck the release out of the way till the moment of truth. A little shout out to my Realtree buddies. In the end we didn't see or hear any birds. After about 2 hours the rains set in and Abi's patience began to wear out. I wish I had a nickel for every, "I'm having so much fun Daddy." We picked up the decoys and went for a short walk till the rain came down hard and we went home for breakfast and egg sandwiches. Hope you enjoyed the pictures.
