Orion_70
I'm in the market for a 22 mag and I'm torn between the Savage 93FV or the Marlin 983. I haven't shot either so I'm looking for opinions and advice. I like the Savage with the heavy barrel and the accutrigger. I'm not sure I like that clip protruding so much and the clip release seems wimpy. As far as the Marlin I like the shot capacity of the tube magazine and the barrel twist. The trigger would need some work though. Opinions?
Hoosierbuck
I have a plain vanilla Savage 93 on order. Faced the same decision, and well... I did not want a heavy barrel, and the Marlin was a little more money, and like you said, the trigger thing. HB
Orion_70
Well, I went with the Savave 93 wmr FV with the bull barrel, picked it up at the shop this weekend. Now to top it off with a scope and test out that accutrigger

PotashRLS
I have the above Marlin 982VS .22Mag model that I stole for $135 at a gun show in Green Bay about 5 years ago. It is a tackdriver and a blast to shoot even with a cheap Simmons scope on it. It likes nearly anything you feed it. I have yet to take any varmints with it though. I know squirrels and crows don't like it much:rolleyes:. The trigger isn't bad for it's intended use. I recommend it highly.
