Obama wants higher gas, that is no secret. Last year he said higher gas prices would force us to invest more in green technologies and be less dependent on oil. Do not remember his exact words, but he said something to the effect that $13 a gallon gas would not be a bad thing, guess he does not understand or relate to those of us who cannot afford over inflated fuel prices and what it does to inflation rates of everyday items people have to have. In the current state of our economy rising fuel prices no doubt will hurt a lot of people.

Of course the liberals have been against using our domestic resources, that too has been no secret.

I seem to remember hearing a report earlier this year, may have been triple A, putting out some information saying we would not see $3 a gallon gas this summer, but yeah it is on its way up, paid $2.20 here yesterday.

Guessing some folks will try to pin this on Bush still.;):o:(

It will be a little easier for me to keep things in perspective this year...

I recently got the bill for the heart catheter $8,000+ not to mention theres the associated doctors bills that go along with that because someone looked in on the procedure, participated in it, or is a distant relative of someone who did...everyone is sending thier meat hooks into my wallet.

Found out yesterday at doctors appointments I have a torn rotator cuff and need surgery.

I'm not going to allow Gas prices to bother me too much;)

On the upside my lung function has already shown signs of increasing since quitting smoking in January:cool:

Yep, gas prices are up and drilling activity is down. Those of us the oil and gas industry are hurting like you wouldn't believe. I'm GLAD to see oil that high, now if natural gas prices will go up, I'll be even happier. We have had two layoffs, second one was pretty significant. And now we are taking a cut in pay. This was NOT a good time for me......

Last Fall when O'Bama was elected, I decided to become pro-active. My wife almost KILLED me when I cut the check and bought 2500 barrels of oil...............$33.90/barrel seemed like a bottom to me and several traders I know. Now we're quickly approaching $60......... Momma's happy :D.

Well, at risk of sounding progressive, or liberal I'll just say this. The only way to encourage conservation/alternative energy sources, both of which I think most all of us agree upon, the price of energy needs to be stabilized. It was high energy costs that was the main driver that tumbled the house of cards economy last year. Having 100-200% fluctuations in cost makes it nearly impossible for any level of planning.

Gas was 1.95 here last week and today it is 2.35 , just when they say the economy is turning around for the better gas prices are going to put it right back in the crapper:mad:.If I am not mistaken it was when the gas prices went to over 4.00 a gallon when the economy realy took a turn for the worse.Dont these people see what kind of effect it has on us poor blue coller working folks, our governer was on tv the other day saying it took .08 to .10 cents more a gallon to make summer gas than winter gas,so why dosent it just go up that much and not 20 and 30 cents at a time.

Not trying to sound like a jerk here, but not every one on these forums can afford to pay $84,750 at the snap of a finger. I for one am one of those people. I don't have the means to make lemonade. When life hands me lemons I too often have to eat them and voiceing my concern/disapproval is just one way to help them slide down better. ;):)

All of this looks more and more like crowd control. This "green" agenda is a scam in itself as is the oil game.

Steve Milloy, author of "Green He--" to Glen Beck in a recent interview:

Glenn, I have wasted the last 13 years trying to educate people on the science behind the green movement. They haven't taken to that. So now I'm going, well, this is what they're going to do to your lifestyle and they're going to tell you where to live, how many children you can have, where you can work, what kind of car you can drive, how much energy you can use, what kind of food you can eat, how much water you can have, what kind of toilet paper you can use, I mean, they are regulating light bulbs in your house. If people don't understand, then I guess they are going to have to experience it.

Trust me......................I didn't have it either. But, I did have a few friends with seats on the Board of Trade and an open "home construction loan"................so we took a chance and so far we're winning.

When you consider that a new truck costs $45,000 and it's a depreciable liability, one can justify investing a little more in order to generate profit.

I used to charge $40/hr for my time............now it's $45 in order to offset the cost of living..................pass it on.......it's the American Way. But sitting around complaining about the price of gas is pointless. It ain't going to go away for a while.........better learn to adjust and re-align.

I understand your point and you didn't sound like a jerk. But, understand my point. Lemons are SOUR............I don't eat them.

Well, personally I think there's a middle road. Whether or not you believe in climate change or not, we're sending billions of our dollars to the middle east. I for one welcome green alternatives when there's a real and measurable benefit, and I'm not talking about things like corn ethanol, that simply hides one problem for another, such as increased food prices. Just my humble opinion. I say exploit our own resources here, as well as encourage reduced demand in sensible ways. :)

Crazy how it works isn't it Gary.:o:( Don't know why there have to be so many different billing parties associated with one surgery, think with a check I mailed out last week that we finally got everything straightened out on bills from Nicole's surgery from back in November.

Back on the topic, would seem to me that all Obama and the liberals in control really have to do to get the oil market to stabilize and for prices to stay at reasonable levels is to get the word out that we will open up more drilling offshore and begin using more of our resources here at home, but we all know that is not going to happen.

Take the spending expenditures away from Obama and the rest of these idiot politicians and then we'll see just how "GREEN" they will want to be or get ...:rolleyes:

The DORK Pres. we have crys for a GREENER way, but flys 2 fighter jets and a 747 around the Statue of Liberty for a couple of hours, just to get a perfect picture to hang on his memorial wall ..

When they have to pay for their own fuel and eating expenses and take a pay cut, I bet their tunes would change rather quickly .. ;)

Domestic drilling has already started here ... If I remember correctly Oil giant Exxon Mobil said it has started drilling operations at Point Thomson in Alaska ... All these gas increases are just the rich man getting richer at the expense of the middle class worker and using the travel holiday as an excuse ..:(

It sucks that the working man has to take hit for this because I'm pretty sure that the "shot callers" profit margin hasnt went down.

I agree. I wish someone would poke a hole in my backyard! The less we are buying from the arabs the better off we are at home.

Oil demand to fall this year

The International Energy Agency lowers its 2009 oil consumption forecast. Wal-Mart profit edges higher, but sales slip because of the stronger dollar. Chrysler wants to close nearly 800 dealerships.

By Charley Blaine and Elizabeth Strott

The International Energy Agency lowered its 2009 oil demand forecast for the ninth month in a row this morning.

The IEA now expects demand to fall by 200,000 barrels a day, or about 3%, to 83.2 million barrels a day -- which would be the biggest drop for a single year since 1981. The IEA has made monthly cuts to its demand forecast since last August, when the IEA had said demand would reach 87.8 million barrels a day this year.

Crude oil, which is up about 30% so far this quarter, was down 17 cents to $57.85 a barrel this afternoon. Its record high was $147.27, set on July 11, 2008.

Stocks were moving higher this afternoon after slumping Wednesday. At 12:30 p.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ($INDU) was up 66 points to 8,351. The Nasdaq Composite Index ($COMPX) had added 27 points to 1,691, and the Standard & Poor's 500 Index ($INX) had gained 10 points to 894.

"While this looks like a dramatic year-on-year change, preliminary data for early 2009 suggest little upside for now in our demand assessment, even if broader market sentiment has become more optimistic," the agency said.

I still smell a rat with the latest jump in prices!!!!!

Come out here and tell that to all the oilfield workers that are now out of work. That's why we have had two layoffs, and now a cut in pay. Yeah, oil prices are up somewhat, but drilling activity is WAY WAY down........ And not looking to improve anytime soon! Rig count in the US last I heard was expected to be around 900 actively exploring.
