I roosted that gobblerl ast night, after watching him out in the SAME corn field with 3 hens and a jake... they are in this field just about every night!

Anyway long story short...where he gobbled on the roost last night sounded farther than it was, so I set up where I thought it was, ended up he was a cross this little open grassy swamp to my left, where one of our deer stands is!

I went into the field and set-up, he gobbled off the ground a couple times then that was it....Twice now I've set up in the field and it must be they are staying in the woods in the morning...lame hens....I have got to get in close to this guy's roost....seems like my best chance while he has hens. Also seems like maybe they are traveling the one side of the swamp going around it...

Well I hung at the field until almost 8 with a jake and hen decoy out in a breeding position, couldn't take it anymore, really windy, I was cold...storm moving in, so I came in early. Just as I get back to our woods, it starts to rain, but stops. Glad I came in early though, just checked the radar and looks like some t-storms on the way in...I'm not a fan of being outside during a t-storm....

I've got a little over 2 weeks still in the season....I feel like this bird is gettable....but geesh...I think I need to just get right in on him. I will have one advantage tomorrow morning....rain = wet ground = quiet....so if I can roost hime tonight...I can sneak in pretty close. Dunno if I should pop a decoy out if I get in close by him or not?
