m gardner
It's not required here in Az during rifle season so we don't wear it. The animals can see it and zero in on the bright spot. Gives you more incentive to remain alert and undiscovered too. After riding a motorcycle for years on the freeways and having taken many rides in army helicopters it doesn't seem like much of a risk. Too much focus these days is on safety and little on awareness and training. Mark Edited June 7, 2009 by m gardner
NS whitetail
I may take my orange off while in my stand, but I would never walk the woods without it on during the season. ( you have to wear it here in NS ). Way too many morons in the woods who don't have two clues
Doc
I think there are a lot of people who are just plain stubborn and feel like a blaze orange requirement is just another area of governmental repression that is somehow depriving them of their right to be stupid. However, keep in mind that your choice to be stupid can affect more than just yourself. Everytime they drag out another blown apart corpse from the woods of another idiot that likes his camo during gun season, it adds to the highly publicized body count and relects negatively on the rest of us hunters. camoman1
I where orange during our gun deer seasons as it is required by law but also for the safety reasons. I hunt private land but the guys next to us like to hunt right on the property line. They are known to not be the brightest folks, warden has issued fines there for foolish things in the past. I wouldnt put it passed them to shoot off their property at a "deer". I dont know about other states, but it seems that most of our hunting accidents consist of fellow hunting party members shooting each other. Its stupid because they KNOW that others are out there and still choose to be unsafe.

Buckhunter76
Well all, I definetly wear it now, cause that was a big mistake not too, lol. Only during Deer Gun Season though, when it's required
Doc
I'm beginning to think that hunter safety classes should start showing some highly detailed and explicit pictures of what a 12 guage slug can do to a hunter. Perhaps it would wake up some of these people to the fact that hunting is not like playing cops & robbers with cap guns. Being stupid in the deer hunting woods can have some real serious and life-altering consequences. Some people just can't seem to grasp that concept.
