JackedUpZ71
We have pound behind our house that has been taken over by lilly pads over the last few years. Its impossible to fish the pond from the bank. So my question is what do yall use to catch them when say 90% of the fish are buried in there? redkneck
I used to travel an hour to fish in alabama in a place covered in pads about the size of a five gallon bucket. You'll think i'm lying, but bream would actually jump onto the pads when bass got after them. I'm not saying they meant to do it, i'm just saying what i saw, and there were some big bass there. We used hawg frawgs. Pretty much weedless and would pull them fast over the pads until a bass would make a pass at it, then ease it over one of the few open places in the water to seal the deal. RangerClay
Use a Texas worm rig with 40 lb. test. When you hook a fish, work them in fast and keep them near the top.
redkneck
This is about the closest thing that i can show you that we had success with. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/standard-pod-wrapped.jsp?id=0053846&navCount=0&parentId=cat601233&masterpathid=&navAction=push&parentType=index&indexId=cat601233&rid=&cmCat=netcon&cm_ven=netcon&cm_cat=Google&cm_pla=weedless%20frog&cm_ite=netcon But dont get me wrong, I never wore them out, lots and lots of misses as the bass try to hit them from under the pads, but this is the best i found, and it only takes on good bass to make your trip. Hope that helped, John
JackedUpZ71
That frog looks pretty good I'll have to try it. Is there a certain way you set the hook with it, or is it just like a regular topwater plug.
redkneck
It's been years since i fished one. I called it a hog frog, but actually it was a scum frog brand name. http://www.scumfrog.com/scumfrog.html You can try different skirts or no skirt on them. There's a little dimple in the body you have to adjust from time to time that sorta hides the point of the hook, and every now and then the body will twist and the hook will be exposed and will hang up. Pretty much like any topwater bait, just give him a second or two to swallow and run with it, then set it good. Let me know if it works for you, hope you'll have good luck. Shaun_300
In the thicker stuff like that I throw a Moss Boss, it works great! Stupidest looking lure you'll ever see but they catch fish!
