Tom2008
Saturday for me was a bust. No gobbles, not sign, no nothing. The wind pretty much killed that day. Sunday morning on the other hand proved to be a better day. We got out at 5:30 A.M. and started hitting the crow call to locate a gobbler. First couple of times we had no answer. By the time we walked about 500 yards up the field we had an answer. The blood started pumpin for me when I heard that first gobble (Now I know how you turkey hunters feel! This is great stuff!) We made our way to the sound, but I had a delay. I couldn't remember if the field was part of our section of the land or not. Unforunately we weren't able to go after the birds. I decided I'd rather be safe then sorry and go out there. Later that day we found out that we had access to that field also so hopefully tonight or tomorrow morning we'll be on them again. We did have a few cool encounters though. One with a doe at 20 yards. Circled and grazed all around us. Then we had a Sand hill crane land about 100 yards from the blind. The sound they make is just amazing. I decided to mess with it a little bit and I did some crow calls. To our suprise the crane actually started walking towards us. Everytime it woudl decide to walk away I'd hit the call and it would come back. I got it within 30 yards. We had a doe and two fawns come check out the crane and the crow calls too. Last, but not least. My favorite hunting partner in the whole world. P.S. You think she has enough pink on her bow?
