Well Strut i wont argue with you but if that ol toms out there at 60 yards, the one you worked all season. your not gunna shoot him? i am more than confident that my setup will fetally kill that turkey at 60 yards... nitro hevishot is some great stuff you ought too give it a try! I've shot 5 for 5 at 60 and beyound, wont mention the others. O well of course i try and let them get within 20 yards or less but sometimes that dont happen. Not that i am saying shoot all your turkeys at 60 yards its deffinitly not for everyone, unless they are setup too do so.

No. I would not. I would do the reponsible thing.......the thing that respects the bird and gives turkey hunters a good name. I let him walk. I'll make another setup and try again. If I can't kill one in a responsible manner, I will go without.

IMO........Slop-shots don't count in turkey hunting any more than they do on a pool table.

60 yards is too far.

I wouldn't take that shot either and I do shoot hevishot with my 1187 using a Rhino choke. IMHO 60 yards is just a poke and hope shot. At least for me, turkey hunting is about working a gobbler and getting him in close for virtually a sure kill. On occasion everybody misses on even the close shots. The only turkey hunters that haven't missed yet, haven't shot at enough gobblers yet. I don't care if you've worked the same bird for 2 years, there's always a different tactic to try to get him into the 40 yards or less range on another setup or another day. I would rather wait for a closer shot or go for another bird that's not as wary than risk wounding a bird (especially a challenging bird) that might die later or make him extremely wary to try to call in another time.

Alright last time postin here, i'm a slap shooter that i can "about" garentee i kill the bird any more than i can at 20 yards. My pattern is a little tight at that distance, as you might imagin. It really dont matter i hardly ever shoot i am too busy taking my little cousins out. I am just confident with my equipment and thats all,if i ever wound or miss at that range i would probably feel like you do about it. good day.
