Senate votes to allow guns in national parks

WASHINGTON — The Senate has voted to allow people to carry loaded guns in national parks and wildlife refuges.

Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., sponsored the measure, which would restore a Bush administration policy allowing loaded guns in national parks.

A federal judge blocked the policy in March, and the Obama administration declined to file an appeal.

The gun amendment was attached to a bill imposing restrictions on credit card companies. The bill was approved 90-5.

The measure now goes to the House, where approval is expected

I was reading about this one earlier and couldn't make the connection on how it related to credit cards either, they just add provisions onto whatever they can. I'm glad to see this one go in though.

I do worry about what the next bill will be and what provisions they try to add in...

I checked into the legality of carrying in the National Parks because I do it regularly because of our drug dealing friends from Mexico, and found it's been legal since George Bush passed this http://ccw.azdps.gov/news/010909.asp . Must be they modified the existing law or made it's scope to include a wider portion of gun owners. I guess I'll need to carry a lawyer as well as my Kimber!
