Strut10
Well................day one is a repeat of the whole season. After hearing no birds from the roost, I found one gobbling on his own at 6:15. I got set up on him well and called. He answered. We go back and forth between lukewarm and hot. I'm fairly convinced I'm going to win this one. 20 minutes later, I call two of his hens in. I just know he's a few yards behind them. Wrong!!! Never hear him again. I really have never seen a spring like this one. It's goofy.

Strut10
'Nother dry day. One bird gobbled twice from the tree then went silent. I found 3 hens picking in one field around 7:30-8:00 and 7 in another. Not a tom to be found. Goofy.
Rhino
Good luck through the weekend Don. Hope it's dry in your neck of the woods. I really have never seen a spring like this one. It's goofy. Several turkey hunting friends of mine down here said the same thing. After thinking about it, overall everything seemed to be ahead of the normal schedule for spring turkey season down here. Then some days when the weather was perfect they didn't want to talk hardly at all. Other days, same weather conditions and they gobbled themsleves to death. A couple of times it was like that on back to back days. Go figure.

ruttinbuc
Pulling for you, Don. My brother's season just ended here and he said the same thing. He didn't hear a gobble in 2 weeks of hunting. It has been a different year...
Strut10
There's still tomorrow and Monday. Way I look at it......either one's gonna screw up and die or he isn't. It's really my own dumb fault that I don't already have one of my tags torn out. Guess if it were really that pressing an issue I'd have pulled the trigger 3 1/2 weeks ago when I had the chance. I'll be back at 'er here in about 4 1/2 hours.
Strut10
The turkeys continue to be ignorant. Two different ste-ups this morning on two different gobbling birds. Called hens (very vocal hens both times) off of both of them and neither bird budged my way. Good news is, if the first bird is roosted in the same area Monday morning as he was this morning.........he's got problems.
Turkeygirl
Good luck buddy! I have a week left up here in NY but may just call it a season...I'm pretty happy just to have my one tag on the gobbler I pursued...the good news for both PA and NY though is the dry spring we are having...I would think we'd have a mess of poults this year.
